MediaTek has just introduced its gaming-centric Helio G90T and Helio G90 SoCs on July 30. Accordingly, the G90T has the support for displays with 90Hz refresh rate, up to 10GB RAM, and 64MP sensor with quad cameras while the G90 has the support for displays with 60Hz refresh rate, up to 8GB RAM, and 48MP triple camera module.
Soon after the introduction, Xiaomi India Managing Director and Global VP confirmed on Twitter that Xiaomi will be introducing a new phone powered by Helio G90T chipset in India. Besides, Lu Weibing, General Manager of Redmi brand, has also revealed that the brand is working on a Redmi device powered by this chipset for China.
According to the posts on Weibo, the phone with Helio G90T SoC is coming early. And at the beginning of July, Redmi teased that it had been on track of launching a smartphone with a 64MP camera. The phone probably comes with quad cameras. And as mentioned above, the G90T chipset supports 64MP quad-camera module. The commercial name of the phone remains unknown.
Weibing has recently revealed that the brand will be organizing a release event in the home market in August. Accordingly, it could announce 40-inch & 70-inch Redmi TVs at the event. But several rumours claimed that it probably unveils the first 64MP camera phone in the world. A Chinese leakster speculated the phone could be the Redmi 7 Pro.
The brand introduced the Redmi 6, 6 Pro, and 6A phones last year and has just introduced the Redmi 7, 7A phones without the Redmi 7 Pro. Therefore, the Redmi 7 Pro could be the phone powered by the Helio G90T chipset. However, it could be several other smartphones or 8th-gen Redmi device. Therefore, we should stay tuned for more information about the phone.
Regarding Geekbench and AnTuTu benchmarks, the G90 beats gaming-centric Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 chipset. The octa-core G90T chipset has two 2.05 GHz Cortex A76 CPU core and six 2 GHz Cortex A55 CPU cores. The chipset comes with ARM Mali-G76 and supports Bluetooth v5.0, Cat.12 LTE Worldmode modem, UFS 2.1, eMMC 5.1, and up to 10GB LPDDRX RAM.
