Xiaomi Redmi 7A With 4,000mAh Battery & Snapdragon 439 Launched

The successor to the Redmi 6A, called Redmi 7A, now goes official in China with a Snapdragon 439 SoC, a 4,000mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie.

Before officially announcing its first Redmi K20 flagship smartphone, Redmi launched the successor to the Redmi 6A, called Redmi 7A in its home country China. The phone is a new offering in the budget segment with some upgrades on battery and chipset. Other things like cameras and display are still the same as its predecessor Redmi 6A.

The price and availability of the Redmi 7A haven’t been revealed yet, but we have already known that the phone will be available in two color variants which are Blue and Black. AS for price and availability, more details will be announced at the launch of the Redmi K20.

Redmi 7A: Specs & Features

In terms of hardware specifications, the budget Redmi 7A sports a 5.45-inch HD+ panel with 1,440 x 720p resolution. Unlike recent Redmi smartphones, the device features an aspect ratio of 18:9 instead of 19.5:9 with a water-drop on the top. Moreover, you can also see thick bezels on both sides and sizable chin at the bottom. In addition, the phone also features P2i-splash coating, which means the phone will be resistant to water.

Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 439 SoC under the hood with two memory configurations, including 2GB RAM + 16GB internal storage model or 3GB RAM + 32GB expandable storage up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. It is fueled by a 4,000mAh battery, and with the energy-efficient processor, the Redmi 7A will likely have crazy battery life. For software, it will ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box possibly with Xiaomi’s MIUI on top.

In terms of camera, the handset will sport a 13MP single camera on the rear with an LED flash and camera features like AI beauty, AI portrait mode, and PDAF. On the front, there is a 5MP selfie camera with support for Face Unlock feature which is the sole biometric security measure on the front as it lacks a fingerprint scanner. Other notable features include a micro-USB port and a headphone jack.
