The Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is said to be working on a device with the codename ‘Hercules’. Early pieces of information that have just surfaced through its source code have given us some details about the specifications of this upcoming smartphone. The handset will likely run on the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 855 SoC. While its exact identity is still unknown for now, it is speculated to be the next addition to the Xiaomi Mi Mix series called Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.
As per the new leak by XDA Developers’ Editor-in-Chief - Mishaal Rahman, the alleged Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 will come with a triple camera setup at the back and a selfie camera on the front. It is also said to come with wireless charging support.
The smartphone will likely include features like NFC support and an on-screen fingerprint scanner, both of which have already been seen on the Xiaomi Mi 9 smartphones that launched in February.
If it’s indeed the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, it might come with a nearly identical set of specifications with the Xiaomi Mi 9 and a stunning design which is a major advantage of the Mi Mix series. The current Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 comes with a sliding mechanism that allows the phone to have a full-screen display. We are still not sure whether Xiaomi will still go for the same design on this handset or it will apply a new innovative design this time.
To recall, the Chinese company had already posted a teaser for the direct successor to the Mi Mix 3. The said teaser shows all the current smartphones in the series including Xiaomi Mi Mix, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 and a mystery phone. Despite the fourth smartphone’s identity being unknown, it should be the next in line, Mi Mix 4.
However, even though it is speculated to be the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, there is still a small possibility that it is another device that Xiaomi is working on. Therefore, it is better to take this news with a grain of salt and wait for more details.
