Currently, the race to produce a phone with a true full-view display among smartphone players is heating up. According to a report released last week, South Korean phone maker Samsung is preparing for mass production of in-display cameras. However, the company is not the only maker of this kind of camera. Xiaomi already teased on Twitter the plans for its own in-display cameras several months ago. Soon after that, OPPO also announced the plans for this technology.

The new report is shared by TigerMobiles about the new patent of Xiaomi for its on-screen camera tech. It is known that China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) granted this patent on September 30. As you can see, there is a phone with a dual camera setup under the screen.
With those delving into this camera tech, they do not need to design hole punches, notches, and pop-up modules for the full-view display.
It is known that the tech works through a transparent screen. However, smartphone manufacturers are attempting to find out the way to maximize the quality of the camera setup as the imaging output is a bit affected by the screen’s obtrusion. The tech has just in the beginning stage, so we expect that the lower and middle range phones are the first devices to feature this tech before the top-end phones get it.
The latest under-screen camera smartphone of Xiaomi on the latest patent has extremely thin bezels. In addition, the brand already introduced this tech with its Xiaomi Mi 9. It showed the current Mi 9 phone with a dewdrop notch and put it side by side with a modified version of the phone with the under-display camera setup. However, nothing was visible on the top of the display after the cam app was active.
