Redmi Note 8 & Note 8 Pro were released in India last month. While the former features a Snapdragon 665 SoC, the latter is packed with an Helio P90T gaming chipset. Recently, many reports suggested that Xiaomi was working on a new model of the Redmi Note 8 Pro with a Snapdragon 730G SoC, as a mysterious Xiaomi smartphone received 3C certification in China. However, head of marketing at Xiaomi India Anuj Sharma ended these rumors in his latest Tweet. Responding to a tweet about the rumor, he confirmed that there was no such model in the works. It is quite disappointing since many Xiaomi fans were hoping for a model of the Pro model with a Snapdragon processor instead.
Redmi Note 8 Pro: Specifications
The Redmi Note 8 Pro is the latest addition in the Redmi Note series with a 6.53-inch FHD+ panel with a dewdrop notch on top. Powering the phone is an Helio G90T chipset with HyperEngine technology for better gaming performance. It is available in several configurations with up to 8GB RAM / 128GB of storage (expandable up to 256GB). On the software side of things, it comes with Android 9 Pie pre-loaded and MIUI 10 UI. Under the hood, it draws power from a 4,500 mAh battery, that supports 18W quick charging technology.
At the back, Xiaomi packs it with four cameras with the primary sensor carrying 64MP resolution. The other three cameras are a 2MP macro lens, a 2MP depth-sensing shooter, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper. On the front, it sports a 20MP selfie camera. For security, users can protect their phones using a fingerprint reader on the rear. It arrives in three color variants - Gamma Green, Halo White, and Shadow Black.
You can get the handset in three memory configurations. The entry-level model with 6GB RAM / 64GB storage is priced at Rs. 14,999, while the 6GB RAM / 128GB storage variant costs Rs. 15,999. The price goes up to Rs. 17,999 for the top-end option with 8GB of RAM / 128GB storage.
