Aside from the premium TCL 10 lineup, the Chinese company TCL also announced several budget smartphones under the Alcatel brand. The series consists of Alcatel 1S, 1V, 1B, and 3L. However, an interesting thing is that three of these model numbers have been used before except for the Alcatel 1B. It is quite confusing as these are brand-new smartphone models under old names.
Alcatel 3L
The Alcatel 3L is the top-end model in the series. It comes with a triple camera cluster, including a 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture. Paired with the main sensor are 5MP ultra-wide camera with a 115-degree field of view and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture.
Aside from that, the handset also sports a 6.22” IPS LCD panel that supports HD+ resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display is referred by Alcatel as “Vast display”. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6762 octa-core chipset, aided by 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Software-wise, it comes pre-installed with Android 10 out of the box. Under the hood, there is a 4,000mAh battery fueling the phone. Finally, it measures 158.7 x 74.6 x 8.48 mm and weighs 165g.
You can purchase the phone in multiple markets, including Africa, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Europe for a price of around $155 (roughly 11,100). Color variants include Dark Chrome, Agate Green, and Chameleon Blue.
Alcatel 1S
Moving to the Alcatel 1S, it also features a triple camera lens setup. However, the main sensor only has 13MP resolution behind an f/1.8 lens. The other two are a 5MP ultra-wide f/2.2 camera and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera.
Just like the Alcatel 3L, it also packs a 6.22-inch HD+ display and a 4,000mAh battery. However, the device is driven by a less powerful MediaTek MT6762D SoC, 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage.
It will be available for sale in several markets in the Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin America, and Europe for around $110 (roughly Rs. 7,900). Color variants include Power Grey and Agate Green.
Alcatel 1V
Next in the line is the Alcatel 1V. It has pretty much the same body as the other two models with dimensions of 149.1 x 72.2 x 8.9mm. However, its display size is only 5.5 inches due to the thicker bezels at the top and bottom. Around the back, it gets a dual rear camera system, including a 13MP main sensor and a 5MP ultra-wide camera. Powering the phone is the same MT6762D chipset, but the memory is reduced to 2GB RAM and 32GB storage.
It will go on sale in several markets in Asia Pacific, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America from Q1 this year for a starting price of $88 (around Rs. 6,300). Its color variants are Pine Green and Prime Black.
Alcatel 1B
The last phone in the lineup and also the most affordable one is the Alcatel 1B. Unlike its siblings with a water-drop notched display, the 1B has a conventional display design. It gets a 5.5-inch HD+ screen with a thick bezel at the top and bottom. Its battery capacity is reduced to 3,000 mAh. The same for its memory as the brand only packs 2GB RAM and 16GB storage on this model. For processing power, there is a QM215 quad-core chipset ticking at its core.
Despite having a weak hardware configuration, you will still have a decent experience since the Alcatel 1B is an Android Go smartphone with the Android 10 Go edition.
You can get one in several markets in Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Europe in Q1 this year for a starting price of $66 (around Rs. 4,700). Its color options are Pine Green and Prime Black.
