The Sony Xperia 1 II arrives with more advanced quad rear camera setup, more powerful performance with a Snapdragon 865 SoC, and multiple advanced features.

Today (February 24), Sony has just launched a new flagship model in Japan through an event reported live on YouTube. The phone, called Sony Xperia 1 II (pronounced Xperia One Mark Two), comes with Qualcomm's latest processor, upgraded camera system and support for 5G network.

The company also confirms that it is developing another device called Xperia Pro, which supports 5G networks based on mmWave technology.

Sony Xperia 1 II: Price & Specifications

Sony's latest flagship features a 6.5-inch OLED screen with 4K resolution (3840 x 1644 pixels), HDR support, and a 21: 9 aspect ratio.

Although not following the trend of high refresh rate screen, Sony said that the screen of this phone still has many advantages similar to the 90Hz screen, with the ability to automatically "reduce motion blur".

Instead of being in the same center position as the Xperia 1, the triple rear camera system on the Sony Xperia 1 II has been moved to the left corner. The sensors still have the same resolution - 12MP main camera + 12MP wide-angle camera + 12MP telephoto camera, but they have a larger sensor size and better zoom capability. Meanwhile, the selfie camera of the device still has 8MP resolution and is located in the top bezel.

The sensor on the top of the rear camera is an ultra-wide-angle sensor, with 16mm focal length and f / 2.2 aperture, 1.26 "size, 130-degree viewing angle, and Dual PD AF technology. Next in the line is a telephoto sensor with a 70mm focal length, f / 2.4 aperture, 1.34 "size, phase-detection support, and OIS.

Xperia 1 II's main camera is a large 1 / 1.7 "Exmor sensor that supports Dual PD AF, OIS, and f / 1.7 aperture. Located between the main camera and the telephoto camera is the 3D sensor iTOF, which helps speed up the focus.

Speaking of focusing capabilities, the Xperia 1 II inherits eye-tracking autofocus (Eye AF) from its predecessor Xperia 1, but works with animals instead of just humans. Sony says this is the first smartphone to be able to shoot 20fps in burst mode with autofocus, which means that all photos taken in burst mode are in focus.

Sony Xperia 1 II owns the hardware power from Qualcomm's most advanced processor, Snapdragon 865 and supports 5G connectivity. It is available in a single memory configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Sony's latest flagship is IP65 / IP68 water and dust resistant and comes with a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support. More interestingly, the device also sees the return of the 3.5mm headphone jack - a feature quite important to the majority of users that Sony has removed on the previous generation Xperia 1.

Sony Xperia 1 II will have a camera interface similar to Sony Alpha cameras, along with Cinema Pro appl co-developed by CineAlta and Alpha, helping to create more professional videos. In addition, the device also integrates AI 360 Reality Audio audio technology for better audio output.

The Xperia 1 II will be sold in the US in June this year for $ 1,099 (around Rs. 79,000) in two color versions for users to choose - Black and Purple.

Sony Xperia Pro: Price & Specifications

According to Sony, the Xperia Pro will be a more advanced phone model but is still in development, which means its full specifications have yet to be confirmed. The smartphone still comes with a screen and camera system similar to the Xperia 1 II, but this will be a device exclusively for professional Sony Alpha users.
