Samsung's Upcoming Phone Might Be Called Galaxy S20, Not Galaxy S11

Perhaps that is something you have heard about each Galaxy S generation before. But by 2020, for the first time in Samsung's iconic lineup, we may see an unexpected change.
The Galaxy S11 may not be called the Galaxy S11, even if it is a very reasonable name. Instead, Samsung will choose a completely different name, not only to help them better compete with the iPhone but also with their biggest rivals in the Android phone market as well.

Specifically, this information comes from a famous leaker called Ice Universe. He posted two very short tweets about the Galaxy S11, which reveal very little details about the upcoming change.
As you can see in the picture above, Ice Universe mentions the name "Galaxy S20", and then goes on to say "Next year is 2020, and 20 is a new beginning". If he is right, and indeed Ice has repeatedly predicted Samsung correctly, Galaxy S20 will be the name of the successor series to the Galaxy S10 series.
A few years ago, it was reported that Samsung would launch a different Galaxy S model to celebrate the flagship's 10th birthday, but that did not happen. However, the "rise" from the S10 to S20 seems very reasonable in terms of marketing for the product.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 12 in September 2020, and the iPhone 12 will likely dominate every news website until the next September. The Galaxy S11 might sound like a smartphone model ... lagging behind the iPhone 12, when in fact, every new Galaxy S, launched several months earlier, is a rival - if not more - compared to the next iPhone. Selecting the name Galaxy S20 will help erase that thought, at least for customers who do not know much about the Galaxy S series. And with this idea, Samsung will continue to release the Galaxy S30 in 2021, then the Galaxy S40.
You find this naming sound familiar? That's because Huawei has been doing it for years - we'll have Huawei P40 and Huawei Mate 40 Pro in 2020. Huawei may not be able to use Google services, but they are still rivals of Samsung in the Android smartphone market.
It should be emphasized that the South Korean phone maker has been using this naming system for its mid-range smartphones series, the Galaxy A and M series. Naming the Galaxy S series - and later the Galaxy Note - in the same way, makes sense overall.
Whatever the name, Galaxy S11 or Galaxy S20 will be one of the smartphones to look forward to in March!
