Foldable smartphones are still not very popular and with major technical challenges, repairing these devices is also quite expensive. In particular, since flexible displays are the most important part of a folding smartphone, their screen replacement costs are more expensive than standard smartphones. Less than a week after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung recently announced the repair/replacement fee for its new clamshell smartphone in South Korea and the US.

In South Korea, the screen replacement of the Galaxy Z Flip will cost owners a large amount of money up to 753,000 won (around Rs. 45,200). Meanwhile, users in the US will need to spend $499 (around Rs.35,700) for the foldable display and 149 USD (around Rs. 10,600) for the 1.1-inch screen on the back
In comparison, the Galaxy Fold has a significantly bigger secondary screen than the Galaxy Z Flip but has an equivalent replacement fee, although its main screen repair cost is $100 (around Rs. 7,200) more than the Galaxy Z Flip, staying at $599 (around Rs. 42,900). In addition, to replace the glass back of the Galaxy Z Flip, you will also need to spend $99 (around Rs. 7,100).
Like the Galaxy Fold, Samsung will also offer a discount on the first-time screen replacement to Galaxy Z Flip users. Specifically, the screen repair fee of this phone will be reduced to 225,900 won (around Rs. 16,200) in South Korea. In the US, it will cost $119 (around Rs. 8,500), as long as the device is purchased before December 31, 2020.
In comparison, the first screen replacement fee of the Galaxy Z Flip is still cheaper than the Galaxy Fold - currently applied for $149 (around Rs. 10,700). To recall, the Galaxy Z Flip is priced at $600 (around Rs. 43,000) cheaper than the Galaxy Fold, so there's not much difference when it comes to repairing the screens of these two phones.
