It is expected that 2020 will be a year of many innovations in smartphone design, notably clamshell foldable phones such as Samsung’s upcoming foldable smartphone and Motorola Razr.
After Motorola announced the Motorola Razr, Samsung is also believed to be launching a new foldable smartphone with a similar design. Originally, it was called Galaxy Fold 2, but it was leaked recently to come with a different name, Galaxy Z Flip (or Galaxy Bloom).
Thanks to the rumors and recent live photos, LetsGoDigital has made a set of renders, helping us get a good look at the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip.
Everything about the design of the Galaxy Z Flip is shown in this video. It has the same hinge mechanism as the Galaxy Fold. On the right side, there's a power button at the bottom half, while there is a volume rocker is on the top half of the right edge. At the back of the device, it gets a dual-camera setup at the upper left corner and next to the camera cluster is a small display that can display notifications, battery percentage, date, time, and more.
On the inside, it also features a punch-hole display, which has been very common for recent Samsung smartphones. The selfie camera housed on the cut-out is tipped to have 10MP resolution. Aside from that, the Galaxy Z Flip is also said to get the powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC, two batteries, one of which carries 900mAh capacity and supports rapid charging technology.
The Galaxy Z Flip may be the first smartphone with a foldable glass, as some previous foldable smartphones used plastic materials for their displays. When opened, the Galaxy Z Flip’s display has a size of up to 6.7 inches.
Although the overall design of the Galaxy Z Flip is almost clear, there are still many questions we do not have an answer about this upcoming foldable smartphone such as camera configuration and detail hardware specifications.
The Galaxy Z Flip is believed to be released on February 11 along with the Galaxy S20 series. Can you guess the price of the Galaxy Z Flip?
