The Galaxy A51 and Galaxy A50s both have support for dual-SIM cards. In terms of software, while the former ships with Android 10 at launch with Samsung’s One UI 2.0 running on top, the Galaxy A50s is pre-loaded with Android 9 Pie-based One UI only.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A51 is powered by an Exynos 9611 chipset, paired with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. On the other hand, the Galaxy A50 is fueled by the same chipset, aided by 4/6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Quad rear cameras

Samsung uses a quad-camera setup on the Galaxy A51 that includes a 48MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 5MP portrait camera. Meanwhile, the Galaxy A50s gets a triple camera lens setup that comprises a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Samsung a50s vs a51, in terms of camera, the latter has one more camera and its ultra-wide-angle camera also has a higher resolution. However, if you are not a fan of taking a lot of photos or taking close-up photos, the macro camera is not really that useful and the slight increase in resolution of the wide-angle camera is also not that significant.

Samsung Galaxy A51 vs A50s: Battery & Connectivity

As for connectivity, there aren’t many differences when I compare Samsung galaxy a51 and a50s. Both smartphones support 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, USB-C port, and Wi-Fi. They both also have an under-display fingerprint reader for security.

As for the battery, they are also packed with the same 4,000mAh battery along with support for 15W fast charging solution.

Samsung Galaxy A51 vs A50s: Verdict

Overall, the Galaxy A51 is not really a fully upgraded model of the A50s. It has a slightly larger and taller display, one more camera that might not be as useful to many users, and the new Android 10, which the Galaxy A50s should be getting in the near future. One thing that is really upgraded is the display design. Shifting from U-shaped notch to punch-hole is what I think the most significant upgrade on the Galaxy A51. Moreover, the two phones also share the same chipset and battery. Therefore, get the A51 if you like punch-hole display or macro shots. Otherwise, the Galaxy A50s might be a better choice if it is Rs. 3,000 or cheaper.
