Samsung announced the Galaxy A50 in February this year, and it seems the brand is planning to announce a new version of the handset soon. The handset has just made its appearance on benchmarking platform Geekbench as Samsung Galaxy A50s with the model number of SM-A507FN. It achieved scores of 1,685 and 5,446 points in the single-core and multi-core tests which are in line with those of Galaxy A50.
The Geekbench listing was first spotted by Nashville Chatter, and it reveals several key features of the upcoming phone. The handset seems to come with an Exynos 9610 octa-core processor that has been seen on the Samsung Galaxy A50.
Moreover, it is listed on Geekbench with 4GB RAM and Android 9 Pie. It appears that the Galaxy A50 and A50s share the same specifications. We suspect that the difference might be in the camera setup, battery capacity, and display. With similar benchmark scores, we doubt that the two handsets will be significantly different in terms of performance.
The report also mentions that the Galaxy A50s could have a different weight and dimensions compared to the Galaxy A50. The brand might also go for better display and camera setup on the forthcoming phone.
The brand has been investing quite a lot with the revamped Galaxy A series, which has claimed a solid standing in the mid-range segment. Aside from the A50s, the company is also reportedly working on several more Galaxy A smartphones.
Let’s go through the specs of the Galaxy A50 as there wouldn’t be a lot of massive upgrades in the A50s. The device sports a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Powering the phone is an Exynos 9610 SoC, paired with up to 6GB RAM / 128GB storage.
In terms of camera, there are a 25MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 5MP depth sensor at the back. It also sports a 25MP selfie camera on the front. For security, the device is one of the few smartphones in its price range to feature an in-display fingerprint reader. Finally, Fueling the entire setup is a 4,000mAh battery that has 15W fast charging support.
