The upcoming 2019 will be a hectic year for Samsung. Samsung is currently the world’s biggest smartphone manufacturer, but many of its competitors are getting very close, especially Xiaomi and Huawei have had a very successful year in 2018.
Despite the fact that the gap is still somewhat significant, the year 2018 has not been a good year for the South Korean maker. And they are betting on 2019 to be a much better one as they are set to release the Galaxy 10 series and its first foldable phone early next year.
The possible changes that Samsung will make is the mid-range lineup. The phone maker just launched the Galaxy A9 with a quad camera system and recently the Galaxy A8s with a triple camera setup and the first to have a hole-punch display.
Galaxy A8s - the first Samsung's phone to have the Infinity-O display
The upcoming Galaxy A50 might come packed with a 4,000 mAh battery which is higher than other smartphones in the same Galaxy A series and even the next Samsung flagship, Galaxy S10. The phone is also speculated to have a 24MP camera on the rear. However, we don’t know about whether it will be a single camera setup or coupled with other lenses.
The Galaxy A50 is expected to run the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box. We also already know from the benchmarks that this phone will likely be powered by the Samsung’s Exynos 9610 SoC which was debuted in early 2018 and is promised to come with premium features like AI-based image processing and the ability to record slow-motion videos at 480 fps.
The phone will come with a least 4GB RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. We will see if this upcoming Samsung will also feature the latest Infinity-O display design or it will be just another notch.
The Galaxy A50 is expected to be announced at MWC 2019, shortly after the debut of the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup. It should be up for sale in early March 2019.
