Xiaomi Group’s VP & Redmi’s GM Lu Weibing has just released the first details about the upcoming Redmi K40 Pro. This will be a smartphone equipped with many high-end features for a reasonable price.
Similar to last year's K30 Pro, the Redmi K40 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm's latest and most powerful, which is Snapdragon 888 chipset. This is also the chipset used on the Xiaomi Mi 11 that the company has just launched, as well as many upcoming flagships such as Samsung Galaxy S21 or Oppo Find X3 Pro.
Not just that, the K40 Pro is also touted to feature two other attractive features, which are "the most expensive flat screen" and "battery capacity over 4,000mAh". The battery capacity is expected as most of the mid-range and high-end smartphones these days come with a 4,000mAh+ battery.
As for the "the most expensive flat screen", there are two possibilities. Expensive panels are usually associated with AMOLED ones, so the handset could come with that type of display, or at least the Pro version. However, there is a chance that Xiaomi will use a 144Hz LCD display like the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro.
Fortunately, there is an important spec of the K40 Pro that has been officially confirmed, which is the selling price: the Redmi K40 Pro price will start at CNY 2,999, equivalent to Rs. 34,000. Thus, it is possible that K40 Pro will become one of the cheapest smartphones in the world with the Snapdragon 888 chipset.
Besides the Redmi K40 Pro, Xiaomi is also expected to launch the standard Redmi K40 with a mid-range Snapdragon chipset, at a cheaper price of course. Both models will be officially launched by Xiaomi in February.
