Earlier this week, Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi K30 Pro - its latest smartphone at an event held in China. This is a successor to its predecessor Redmi K20 Pro last year, with a powerful hardware configuration with a high-end Snapdragon 865 processor, 64-megapixel quad-camera system, and 30W fast charging.

The phone also retains the AMOLED screen used on the K20 Pro, instead of switching to the LCD screen like the standard Redmi K30. However, the Pro variant lacks an important feature, which is a high refresh rate display - something that many smartphone makers have been touting on their flagships.
In case you don’t know, the screen of the Redmi K30 Pro only has a 60Hz refresh rate, which is even lower than the 120Hz LCD screen fitted on the vanilla K30. This surprised fans and raised the question, why did Xiaomi's sub-brand decide to use a 60Hz display on the more premium K30 Pro?

Today, Lu Weibing, general manager of the Redmi brand, shared a new post on Weibo to answer this question. According to Redmi’s GM, the company built a complete specification sheet for both the Redmi K30 and K30 Pro 10 months ago, so they don't want to make any last-minute changes.
In addition, this is also an important decision to retain the full-screen design, lightweight, and impressive battery life for the K30 Pro, because using a high refresh rate display of 90Hz or 120Hz will significantly lower the battery life.
Moreover, Lu Weibing also said that even when using a lower 60Hz refresh rate screen, the device is still a top device because it is equipped with Samsung's AMOLED panel with a 180Hz touch sampling rate, HDR10+ support, and it also has low blue light certification from TUV Rheinland and maximum brightness up to 1200nit.
