The much-anticipated Redmi K20 series has finally made its way to India. The lineup includes the Redmi K20 and the premium Redmi K20 Pro. They were first launched in China back in May as the first phones from Xiaomi to come with a pop-up camera. While the K20 is launched in the mid-range segment with a Snapdragon 730 SoC, the Pro model is Xiaomi’s flagship with a Snapdragon 855 SoC. Apart from the processors, the two phones have pretty much the same specs.
Redmi K20 series: Price & Availability
The standard Redmi K20 is priced at Rs. 21,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM / 64GB storage while the 6GB RAM / 128GB option is retailed at Rs. 23,999. Meanwhile, the premium Redmi K20 Pro’s price starts from Rs. 27,999 for the base option with 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and goes up to Rs. 30,999 for the top-end variant with 8GB RAM / 256GB storage. The duo will be available for sale via Mi.com and Flipkart at 8 pm tonight. With ICICI bank credit cards, users can redeem Rs. 855 coupon and get a cashback of Rs. 2,000.
The brand also said that there will be a second alpha sale for the series on 18 July. It is required that the customers have to go to a Mi Home store and pay Rs. 855 to book a unit. Users can also wait for the first sale at 12 pm on 22 July via Mi Home stores, Flipkart, and Mi.com. You can also get a discount of Rs. 1,000 with ICICI credit card in the flash sale.
Redmi K20 series: Specs & Features
There are hardly any differences between the two phones except the battery charging solution, processor, and storage option. So, let's start with the standard model first.
Redmi K20
The handset sports a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor, paired with 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage. In terms of software, it ships with Android 9.0 Pie with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 atop. For security, users can unlock the phone using a fingerprint reader embedded under its display.
In terms of camera, there are three cameras at the back of the phone. The setup includes a 48MP primary camera, a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera. The cameras support for 2x optical zoom, HDR, PDAF, and recording 4K video @ 60fps. On the front, it has a 20MP pop-up selfie camera with an f/2.0 lens. The brand claims that its pop-up module is fully tested 300,000 times and it can rise in less than one second. Moreover, the module can automatically retract when the gyroscope detects that the phone is dropped.
Finally, the handset is fueled by a beefy 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging solution.
Redmi K20 Pro
There are only a few differences between the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. The Redmi K20 Pro is powered by a more powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC, coupled with 6/8GB of RAM and 64/128/256GB of storage. It is also fueled by a 4,000 mAh cell, but it supports quicker 27W charging solution instead.
