Redmi 9 Specs & Photo Leaked: Quad Rear Cameras & Helio G80 SoC

The Redmi 9 will be reportedly powered by the same Helio G80 SoC as the Realme 6i and pack a quad-camera setup on the rear.

Redmi is said to be working on the Redmi 8’s successor called Redmi 9. A previous leak claimed that the handset would be launched in the third quarter of this year, but it appears to be a bit longer than what we expected. To recall, it took the company 7 months to release Redmi 7’s successor - Redmi 8, which launched last October. Anyway, a new leak has just given us the key Redmi 9 specifications and its design at the back.

The new leak, in courtesy of Sudhanshu Ambhore, is said to be from a Chinese source. According to Sudhanshu’s tweet, the upcoming Redmi 9 will come with an Helio G80 SoC, which is the same one used on the Realme 6i, which was released just a week ago. The leaker doesn’t say anything about its memory configurations, but we expect to see a few available at launch with at least 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.

Moving to the back, the leaked photo shows that the Redmi 9 will have similar camera placement and design to the Redmi K30. That means three of its rear cameras will be placed vertically in a single housing, right above a fingerprint sensor. On the left side of that camera housing, there are a forth camera and an LED flash placed inside a different housing. The whole thing is located inside a ring just like the Redmi K30. However, the ring is flush with the rest of the back panel and not as prominent as that of the K30.

According to the leakster, the rear camera setup includes a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 2MP portrait camera, and a 5MP macro shooter. Finally, Sudhanshu suggests that the Redmi 9 color variants will include at least Purple and Green.
