Redmi 9 Prime Landed In India: Helio G80, Quad Cameras, 5,020mAh Battery

Redmi 9 Prime, priced at Rs. 9,999, is one of the most affordable smartphones you can get on the market with a Full-HD+ display.

Redmi 9 Prime is the latest offering that Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi has brought to India. The device features a similar design and specs to the global variant of the Redmi 9 launched back in June. It gets a FHD+ display, beefy 5,020 mAh battery with support for fast charging, and quad-camera setup at the back. Other notable features of this new Redmi phone include Helio G80 SoC, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and P2i coating for water-resistance. With a starting price of Rs. 9,999, the Redmi 9 Prime will take on the likes of Samsung Galaxy M01 and Realme Narzo 10A. 

Unlike the Redmi Note 9, the Redmi 9 Prime only gets a water-drop notch design.

Redmi 9 Prime: Price in India & Availability

The Realme 9 Prime is priced at Rs. 9,999 in India for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model. You can also get more storage with the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant, which is retailed at Rs. 11,999. The device will be up for sales on Amazon during Prime Day sale and Mi.com on 6th August. Four color options of the Redmi 9 Prime users can get are Matt Black, Sunrise Flare, Mint Green, and Space Blue.

On the front, the phone is wrapped by a 6.53-inch display with FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080p) resolution, water-drop notch, 400 nits brightness, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. As mentioned, the handset is powered by an Helio G80 chipset, aided by 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of storage. There is a microSD card available on this phone (support up to 512GB), so you don’t have to worry about running out of storage.

This new Redmi phone is one of the cheapest smartphones with a FHD+ display.

There is an 8MP single camera with a 77.8-degree viewing angle on the front for picturing selfies. Around the back, you can see a quad-camera cluster, featuring a 13MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth-sensing camera. The setup supports FHD video recording at 30fps, Palm Shutter, Portrait Mode, Kaleidoscope video, and more. 

With a 5,020mAh battery and 18W fast charging technology, you won’t have to worry about the battery life of this phone. However, you have to purchase an 18W adapter since Redmi only packs a standard 10W charger with the Redmi 9 Prime. For biometrics security, users can unlock the phone with Face Unlock feature and a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back.
