Xiaomi is expected to announce the Redmi Note 8 series at a launch event on 1 October in Beijing, according to a leaked teaser poster. The said poster reveals that the brand will launch one or more smartphones on the event. The phone that most likely makes its debut is said to be the Redmi 8 Pro that has a 48MP main sensor. The source also suggests that the Redmi 8 and Redmi 8A might also be announced at the event, though they are unlikely to feature a 48MP sensor. That means the 48MP camera smartphone should be the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Thanks to a listing on TENAA, we now know the specs and design of the upcoming Redmi 8A. The handset will come with a 6.2-inch display with HD+ resolution and a dewdrop notch, Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 9, and an octa-core chipset with a clock speed of 2GHz. It is revealed to pack 2/3/4GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of storage (expandable up to 512GB). In terms of camera, the phone will feature a single 12MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie camera on the front. Fueling the phone will be a beefy 5,000 mAh battery, and it will come in multiple color variants - Grey, Pink, Purple, Green, White, Red, Blue, and Black.

Moving to the Redmi 8, it is shown to feature a dual rear camera setup in a leaked live image last month. At first, the phone in the photo was believed to be the Redmi 8A, but its recent listing on TENAA proved it to be wrong. Therefore, the better guess would be the upcoming Redmi 8. The live photos show that the device will come with a dewdrop notched display, a dual rear camera setup stacked vertically, and a thick chin at the bottom. Its specs are tipped to consist of a Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 9.7.11.
The last one in the series is the Redmi 8 Pro. However, the phone hasn’t been mentioned much recently. It is also the least likely to be announced at the event since the brand didn’t launch a Pro model in the Redmi 7 series. So you should take this news with a grain of salt. If the brand indeed announces a smartphone with a 48MP sensor at the event, it should be the Redmi 8 Pro. Until then, all we could do right now is staying tuned and wait for more leaks and the official event to know more of what the company will offer.
