The Redmi 8 has just been officially announced at a launch event in India. That is the global release of the device, which was already teased at the Redmi 8A release event in India last month. It shares quite a few similarities to its predecessor Redmi 7 that launched earlier in the year. The handset comes with a water-drop notched display with a HD+ resolution, a dual rear camera setup, and more. The key highlights of the Redmi 8 include a massive 5,000 mAh battery, 64GB of storage, and up to 4GB RAM.
Redmi 8: Price
The prices of Redmi 8 in India are Rs. 7,999 for the variant with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and Rs. 8.999 for the model with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It can be acquired in three color variants - Ruby Red, Onyx Black, and Sapphire Blue. The official sale of the phone in the country starts from 12 October via Mi Home stores, Mi.com and Flipkart.
Redmi 8: Specifications
The Redmi 8 sports a 6.21-inch HD+ display with Gorilla Glass 5 and a Dot notch on the top that accommodates a selfie camera. Powering the device is a Snapdragon 439 chipset, coupled with up to 4Gb of RAM and 64GB of storage. Its storage can be further expanded up to 512GB with a dedicated microSD card slot. Software-wise, it ships with Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with MIUI 10 on top. It is fueled by a massive 5,000 mAh battery, that supports up to 18W fast charging tech. However, it will only come packed with a 10W charger in the box.
On the imaging front, it rocks dual rear cameras, which are a 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with an f/1.8 lens, and a 2MP depth-sensing camera. Its cameras are supported by Google Lens, AI Scene Detection, and more to improve the outcomes. Upfront, there is an 8MP selfie camera for selfies. Other notable features include a rear fingerprint reader and P2i coating for splash-proof body.
