Redmi 7A Launch Date in India Officially Confirmed

The launch date of the Redmi 7A in India is officially confirmed and it will launch around the launch event of the Redmi K20 series.

A couple of weeks ago, Redmi announced a new-entry level phone dubbed Redmi 7A in its home market China. Recently, the handset was available for sale in several countries in Europe. Now, the launch date of the phone in India is finally confirmed.

Anuj Sharma, Head of Marketing, Xiaomi India confirmed in an interview that the Redmi 7A will indeed come to India in the recent future. However, he didn’t mention the exact launch date of the handset, and he only revealed a timeframe. He suggested that the upcoming Redmi 7A might come to India alongside the newly-announced Redmi K20 series or within several days of the launch event. The Redmi K20 Pro is slated to launch in India in mid-July, ranging from 15 to 17 July.

Redmi 7A: Price

It is up for sale in China for CNY 549 (around Rs. 5,500) for the entry-level variant with 2GB RAM / 16GB storage while the top-end option is retailed at CNY 799 (around Rs. 8,100). It is currently up for sale in two color options - Blue and Black.

Redmi 7A: Specifications & Features

The handset sports a 5.45-inch HD+ display with 1,440 x 720p resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is driven by a Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor. It comes in three memory configurations -- 2GB of RAM / 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM / 32GB of storage, and 3GB of RAM / 32GB of storage. For software, it ships with Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box. For security, it doesn’t feature a fingerprint reader, but it still supports Face Unlock feature.

In terms of camera, it sports a 13MP camera with an f/2.2 lens at the back and a 5MP shooter on the front for selfies and video chats with AI portrait mode. Connectivity options include dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, and Wi-Fi. Powering the phone is a beefy 4,000mAh battery which will help the phone last for the entire day.
