Realme X50 5G and Redmi K30 5G are two first 5G smartphones in the mid-range segment and here is our detailed comparison between the two great phones.

Realme X50 5G is the latest offering and also the first 5G smartphone from Realme. It’s one of the first mid-rangers in the market with support for 5G connectivity. The biggest rival of the phone should be Redmi K30 5G, which recently went on sale in China. Both phones are great devices with similar specs, but there are still several differences between the two that might set them apart from their rival. In this comparison, we hope that it will help you to distinguish between the two and choose the best one for you.

Realme X50 5G price in India should be slightly higher than Redmi K30 5G price in India.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Price

The Realme X50 5G price is as follows:

  • 6GB RAM / 256GB storage: CNY 2,699 (roughly Rs. 27,900)
  • 12GB RAM / 256GB storage: CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 31,000)

The Redmi K30 5G will be available in a total of four memory configurations and the Redmi K30 5G price is listed as follows:

  • 6GB of RAM / 64GB of storage is priced at CNY 1,999 (around Rs. 20,400)

  • 8GB of RAM / 256GB of storage is priced at CNY 2,899 (around Rs. 29,600).

You can see that you would get the same amount of RAM and storage for nearly the same price for both of the phones though the Redmi K30 5G price is slightly lower. While the Realme X50 5G is available in a 12GB RAM model, the Redmi K30 5G is available in two 6GB RAM variants at a much more affordable price. In addition, the 10GB RAM and 12GB RAM versions of the K30 5G were spotted last month, which means users will have the chance to purchase the K30 5G with 10GB RAM and 12GB RAM.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Design

This is the aspect that might be subjective to different people. Personally, I find that the design of the Realme X50 5G is not as unique as that of the Redmi K30 5G. However, the X50 5G seems to have a more compact body and a more minimal glass back. On the front, both phones have a hole-punch display, but the hole placement is different on each phone. While the pill-shaped cut-out is placed in the upper left corner on the X50 5G, Xiaomi put it on the upper right corner on its Redmi K30 5G. For security, both of them feature a fingerprint sensor mounted on the power button since they all sport an LCD panel, which means the brands can’t use an under-display fingerprint reader.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Display

One of the highlights of the Redmi K30 5G and Realme X50 5G is their 120Hz displays. An advantage of the Redmi offering over its Realme counterpart is the HDR10 certification. In addition, both of them support the same screen resolution, but the X50 5G has a narrower diagonal (6.57 inches vs 6.67 inches). Overall, the K30 5G seems to have a better display over.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Specifications & Software

Both K30 5G and X50 5G are powered by a Snapdragon 765G SoC built on the 7nm process and integrated with a Snapdragon X52 5G modem. Both of them also have USF 2.1 storage. However, while the top-end model of the K30 5G only has 8GB RAM, the most powerful variant of the X50 5G has 12GB of RAM. However, the Redmi smartphone supports storage expansion via the microSD card slot while the Realme phone doesn’t. In terms of software, the X50 5G is the first phone from the brand to feature the new Realme UI, which is a customized version of the Android 10-based ColorOS 7. As for the Redmi phone, it ships with MIUI 10 out of the box, which is also based on Android 10.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Camera & Battery

On paper, the Realme X50 5G has a better camera setup compared to its Redmi counterpart. While both of them come with a quad-camera lens cluster, the X50 5G has a 12MP telephoto shooter while the K30 5G only has a 2MP depth-sensing camera with 2x optical zoom. In addition, the dual selfie camera setup of the Realme phone consists of an 8MP ultra-wide camera, while the secondary selfie camera of the K30 5G is a 2MP depth-sensing camera. However, the 64MP main sensor on the X50 5G is a Samsung GW1 sensor, while Xiaomi packs a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor. Still, overall, the Realme smartphone has an edge in the imaging department.

The K30 5G’s battery capacity is higher than that of the X50 5G (4,500mAh vs 4,200mAh). On paper, the Redmi phone should have a higher battery life than that of its rival since there aren’t a lot of differences between the two in terms of hardware configuration. However, with both of them having a 5G connectivity support and 120Hz display, their battery life should be significantly lower than that of 4G models. Both of them support 30W rapid charging technology, but the Realme phone should charge faster since its battery capacity is lower.

Realme X50 5G vs Redmi K30 5G: Verdict

In terms of price, the Redmi K30 5G is slightly cheaper than the Realme X50 5G for the same variant and it is also available in several affordable variants with 6GB RAM, unlike the X50 5G. However, the Realme smartphone is available in a powerful 12GB RAM model, which the K30 5G is currently lacking.

Overall, the Realme X50 5G and Redmi K30 5G are at the same level and none is significantly better than the other. The Realme phone has a slightly better camera setup while the Redmi device has a larger battery. If you have to choose one, which phone would you choose?
