Oppo’s sub-brand Realme finally announced the Realme 3 in the Indian market and the handset features a dual camera system on the rear along with a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset, and a 4,230 mAh cell, for a price starting from Rs. 8,990. It will be up for sale on 12 March on Realme’s official website and Flipkart. It is launched to fight against the likes of the Galaxy M20 and Redmi Note 7. It comes in a total of three color variants along with some launch offers. Besides the Realme 3, the Chinese phone maker is also expected to launch a Pro model of the handset to India.
All of these three phones are priced from below Rs. 10,000. Therefore, we think it would be best to pit the latest Realme offering against the Galaxy M20 and Redmi Note 7 to see how they compete against each other.
Realme 3 vs. Galaxy M20 vs. Redmi Note 7: Price
The Realme 3 is priced from Rs. 8,999 for the base option with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage and Rs. 10,999 for the variant with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage. It will come in three colour variants, including Black, Dynamic Black, and Radiant Blue via Realme’s official website and Flipkart. It was already up for sale on 12 March, and Realme said that the price for the 3GB of RAM option is also eligible for the first 1 million units.
Realme 3’s launch offers are Rs. 500 discount on HDFC Bank cards and 20% SuperCash on MobiKwik for anyone buy the phone via Realme’s official website. Additionally, Flipkart also offers Jio benefits that worths around Rs. 5,300 for Realme 3 buyers. The Chinese phone maker also sells Iconic Case for the handset that comes in Yellow, Diamond Blue, and Black for a price of Rs. 599.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi offers the Redmi Note 7 from Rs. 9,999 for the option with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage. The top-end variant with 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage will set you back by Rs. 11,999. The phone will come in three color variants, including Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Onyx Black.
The first sale of the handset is set to be at 12 p.m IST on 6 March. Xiaomi will distribute the phone via Flipkart, Mi Home stores, and Mi.com. It will also soon be available via some offline stores soon. Launch offers for the Redmi Note 7 include an ultra-slim case or buyers can purchase a perforated case for Rs. 349. Airtel will offer as high as 1,120GB free date with unlimited calling along with benefits on Airtel Thanks such as free Airtel TV premium, Contacts Backup, Spam Block, and App advisor.
Lastly, Samsung sets the price of the Galaxy M20 at Rs. 10,990 for the option with 3GB of RAM/32GB of storage while the 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage variant will set you back by Rs. 12,990. It will be up for sale via Samsung’s e-Store and Amazon India. There will be Ocean Blue and Charcoal Black color options of the Galaxy M20. As for the launch offers, buyers who are Jio 4G customers will be able to get double data on recharge packs of Rs. 198 as well as Rs. 299.

The Realme 3 comes with Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 while the Redmi Note 7 is shipped with Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 that is also based on the latest Android 9 Pie. Meanwhile, the Galaxy M20 runs Samsung’s Experience 9.5 which is based on the dated Android 8.1 Oreo.
As for the display, the Realme 3 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ panel with Gorilla Glass 3, a 450nits brightness, an aspect ratio of 19:9, and a screen-to-body-ratio of 88.3 percent. Both of the Galaxy M20 and Redmi Note 7 pack a slightly larger 6.3-inch FHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
However, only the Redmi Note 7 comes with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. On top of the display, all three phones have a dewdrop notch up front with the Galaxy M20 having an Infinity-V design.
Under the hood, these three phones are powered by three different chipsets. While the Realme 3 packs an MTK Helio chipset, the Galaxy M20 packs a Samsung’s Exynos 7940 chipset and the Redmi Note 7 packs a Snapdragon 660 SoC. All of them come with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. They also all have a microSD Slot for expanding their storages, with the Samsung and Realme handset both having a dedicated microSD slot.

In the imaging department, the Realme offering sports a dual camera system stacked vertically on the rear, including a 13MP main camera with an aperture of f/1.8, paired with a 2MP secondary depth sensor. Its camera features include Nightscape mode, PDAF, Chrome Boost, scene recognition, Hybrid HDR, Portrait Mode, etc. On the front, it has a 13MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and 1.12µm pixel size with features like HDR, AI Facial Recognition, and AI Beautification.
As for the Galaxy M20, it also has a dual camera system on the rear, including a 13MP main sensor with an aperture of f/1.9 and a 5MP secondary sensor with an ultra-wide lens. On the front, there is an 8MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0 for taking selfies and video calling.
Lastly, the Redmi Note 7 also has dual cameras at the back which are a 48MP primary sensor with 1.25µm pixel size and an f/2.2 aperture; and a 2MP secondary sensor for depth sensing. The Redmi Note 7 comes with two different camera version, with one having a 48MP main sensor and the other coming with a 12MP main sensor. The one in the Indian market will have a 48MP main sensor. Up front, there is a 13MP selfie camera. The handset’s camera app is touted to be supported by AI to deliver smart beauty features, scene recognition, and better portrait mode.

The Galaxy M20 is undoubtedly leading in the battery aspect with its massive 5,000 mAh cell. However, the Redmi Note 7 and Realme 3 are also packed with large 4,000mAh and 4,230mAh cells, respectively. Xiaomi and Samsung offering both have a USB-C port while the Realme 3 still comes with a dated micro-USB one. All three phones have dual-SIM slots and also a headphone jack.
