You probably know that Xiaomi’s former sub-brand POCO will launch it first smartphone series after separating from Xiaomi to become an independent brand. The series is tipped to be called Poco F2 (Pocophone F2) and it could consist of at least two devices, Poco F2 and F2 Lite. However, there are some confusions between the leaks.
According to YouTube channel Rev Atlas, they got an email about the Poco F2 Lite, which was attached with three photos and several key specs. Thehandset will reportedly pack a Snapdragon 765G SoC, 6GB RAM, and a beefy 5,000 mAh battery. Moreover, the device will carry a high-resolution camera, but the exact details weren’t given on the email.
It would be okay if the more premium Poco F2 carry a more powerful chipset than the F2 Lite like Snapdragon 855 Plus or Snapdragon 865 SoC. However, according to a different leak, POCO submitted a certification for a smartphone with model number M1912G8BI, which is the Redmi K30 4G with a Snapdragon 730G SoC. This doesn’t make any sense as the Lite model will have a more powerful hardware specs than the 5G model.
Moreover, the device shown on the leak photos feature a water-drop notch display instead of a punch-hole screen with dual selfie cameras like the two Redmi K30 models. If the Poco F2 and F2 Lite are indeed rebranded model of the K30, they should not be that different.
As per the email, the brand is planning to release three smartphones this year. They are said to be rebranded K30. We are not sure whether the third offering in the lineup will be at the flagship level or not. We have just heard that the Redmi K30 with a Snapdragon 865 SoC and 8GB RAM alleged in the works.
Anyway, you should take all of these with a grain of salt and wait for official confirmation. Last year, Xiaomi was also rumored to launch the Redmi K20 as Poco F2 in several markets, but that didn’t happen. The Redmi K20 was indeed released under the name Xiaomi Mi 9T in several regions.
