“Waterfall Screen” is a new concept of smartphone display design, which sports extremely curved edges. The design is a product of Oppo, considering that it takes the idea of curved edges to the next level with 88-degrees curved edges, even when the company has already introduced a curved screen smartphone model – Find X.

Through Weibo, Brian Shen – Oppo Vice President – has shared the images of a prototype with the new display. Other bloggers later posted hands-on images, gifs, and videos based on their own experience. The back view of it somehow is not available at present.
In comparison with the Find X’s curved screen, the new screen of the prototype device obviously goes all the way to the sides and there’s no space for any button. It has almost 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, thanks to a small portion on top as well as bottom for bezels. The prototype device is likely to have a 21:9 aspect ratio with a narrower panel.

When rolling out a flagship with new technology, Oppo usually showcases it in advance. As suggested, the Chinese brand might release the next-gen Find X which would feature not only the Waterfall Screen technology but also the under-screen camera (USC). At the Mobile World Congress held in Shanghai, Oppo also showcased the USC tech with the purpose of hosting selfie camera sensor without popup mechanism. Finally, the 10x lossless zoom which has found in Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is also expected to find its way to the next Oppo flagship alongside those new techs.
As claimed by tipsters Ice Universe, Vivo might also another player that is having a plan of such a similar screen. According to the leak, Vivo Nex 3 device would come with no hole or notch, sport extremely curved edges with nearly 100 percent screen-to-body ratio.
