Oppo just announced a new model of its flagship Oppo Reno that supports 5G connectivity at the MWC Shanghai 2019. The brand already introduced the Opo Reno series in the Indian market. The Oppo Reno 5G has the same specs as the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom Edition that launched earlier in the year, except for the 5G capabilities.
For now, the phone is said to be priced at €899 (roughly Rs. 70,000) in the UK. For reference, the Reno 10X Zoom is retailed at Rs. 39,990 for the entry-level variant with 6GB of RAM + 128GB of storage. You can also purchase the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage for Rs. 49,990.
At the same event, its Chinese rival Vivo also announced a 5G smartphone of their own called iQOO 5G with support for massive 120W fast charging solution.
Oppo Reno 5G: Specifications
The only difference between the Oppo Reno 10X Zoom and Oppo Reno 5G is the 5G support. The handset comes with an 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with an 85.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, a 2,340 x 1,080p resolution, and Gorilla Glass 6. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with Adreno 640 GPU for graphics and Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G capability. Software-wise, it boots Oppo’s ColorOS 6 which is based on Android 9 Pie at launch.
At the back, it features the same design except for the 5G branding at the top. There is a triple rear camera setup, including a 48MP primary camera with an f/1.7 lens, OIS, and Laser/PDAF. The main shooter is paired with a periscope 13MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom support and an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 lens. Up front, it sports a ‘shark-fin’ pop-up selfie camera with 16MP resolution and f/2.0 aperture.
For security, it features an on-screen fingerprint scanner. Fueling the phone is a 4,065mAh battery with 20W fast charging support.
