Oppo R17 and R17 Pro New Year Edition Launched With Hyper Boost Technology: Design, Specifications, Price And Availability

China-based smartphone manufacturer Oppo has just released New Year Edition of the Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro with the new Hyper Boost Tech.

China-based smartphone manufacturer Oppo has recently released the special editions of the Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 pro. Reportedly, these editions will come with a box which was specially designed to welcome the new year. Moreover, the New Year version also features an 18K gold-plated decorative border around the cameras on the rear as well as some modifications on their UI.

1.Design

According to Oppo, the New Year editions are designed by the company and the Spanish-born artist Ignasi Monreal. The main color of this handset is red, which is traditionally believed to be the color of happiness and luck in China. On the back of the handset, there is a Xiangyun Golden Pig symbol at the bottom, an 18K gold-plated decorative border around the rear cameras and special gradient effect gradient effect with Warm Gold and Red.

2.Hyper Boost Technology

With an aim to improve the overall performance and games in particular, Oppo added the Hyper Boost tech on both of the special editions. The technology features a function called BAS (Behaviour Aware Scheduling) which can optimize the frequency of hardware in 0.2 milliseconds. Oppo also unveiled a partnership with Tencent, Netease, Unreal, Unity, and Cocos in which the companies will work to optimize the popular mobile games for a better gaming experience. Reportedly, there are 11 mobile games, including PUBG, have been optimized to date. Hyper Boost will be rolled out the technology to the regular Oppo R17 and R17 Pro via software update.

3.Specifications

Oppo R17, R17 Pro New Year Editions still retains all the specifications of the standard version. Both R17 and R17 pro feature a 6.4-inch display. While the R17 comes with a Full-HD+ display and a resolution of 1080 pixels by 2280 pixels, the R17 pro arrives with a Full-HD+ AMOLED display and a resolution of 1080 by 2340 pixels.

Oppo R17 has 16MP + 5MP dual camera setup along with an LED flash. In comparison, the R17 pro has triple rear camera setup including 12MP primary camera sensor, a 20MP secondary sensor, and TOF 3D sensor.

On the front, both phones have a single 25MP selfie camera. The Oppo R17 runs on an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processor while the R17 pro powered with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC.

In the battery capacity department, the R17 has a 3,500mAh battery while the R17 pro packs a 3,700mAh battery. Moreover, the R17 pro features an in-display fingerprint sensor and supports for fast charging (10V/ 5A, 50W). The company also claims that user can get a 40 percent charge of their 3700 mAh battery in just only 10 minutes with this Super VOOC Flash Charge tech.

4.Price, availability

The Oppo R17 New Year Edition priced roughly at 2,799 Yuan CNY (Rs 29,000) or the 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage and the Oppo R17 Pro New Year Edition priced roughly at 4,299 CNY (Rs 44,600) for the 8GB/128GB variant. However, these Oppo's New Year editions will be on sale only in the Chinese market.
