The OnePlus 5 is arguably one of the best affordable flagship smartphones while the OPPO R11 is a great mid-range smartphone that focuses on the overall experience. The OPPO R11 price in India is significantly lower than that of the OnePlus 5, but it is still worth comparing the two and see their similarities and differences.
OPPO R11 price in India vs OnePlus 5 price in India
The OPPO R11 price in India was Rs. 31,990 at launch while the OnePlus 5 is priced at Rs. 32,990. It is quite confusing as the OnePlus 5 is in the flagship segment while the OPPO R11 is only a mid-range smartphone. It is even crazier when the OPPO R11 Plus price was Rs. 35,990 even though the OPPO R11 Plus is only a slightly upgraded model of the vanilla version.
OPPO R11 vs OnePlus 5: Design & Hardware
Design
Both smartphones have dual cameras at the back. Similar to OPPO, OnePlus also moves the antenna bands to the top and bottom on the OnePlus 5. As a result, the OPPO R11 India and OnePlus 5 look nearly identical to each other from the back. There are of course still some differences such as the secondary microphone on the OnePlus 5 between the flash module and camera sensor. The antenna bands on the OnePlus phone are also more prominent.
In terms of dimensions, the OPPO R11 is slightly thinner than its OnePlus counterpart, but it is also wider. However, the OnePlus i5 still more comfortable to use and hold than the OPPO R11.
Hardware
Hardware is whether the two differ. The OnePlus 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 835 SoC while the R11 OPPO specification include Snapdragon 660 SoC. Interestingly, because OnePlus only offers its smartphone via online channels so the OnePlus 5 price in India is quite competitive while OPPO has to pay a large sum of money for marketing. Hence, the OPPO R11 price in India is the same as the OnePlus 5 6GB RAM price. Instead of offering the most powerful specs, OPPO goes for things that customers would want most from a smartphone - including great cameras, all-day battery life, and premium design and OPPO successfully does the job on this one.
The Snapdragon 660 SoC is no way comparable to the Snapdragon 835 SoC but it is still a decent one. It has eight Kryo 260 cores, which is less powerful than the Kryo 280 cores on the Snapdragon 835. Four of the cores are clocked at 2.2GHz while the other four are clocked at 1.8GHz. For basic tasks, the R11 OPPO handled them with ease while OnePlus 5 is a monster in this aspect.
Both of them sport an AMOLED panel, but the OnePlus 5 has support for DCI-P3 wider colour gamut and allows users to adjust the colour temperature. Both of them have a front-mounted fingerprint reader, but the one on the OPPO R11 is surprisingly faster (not by a larger margin though).
One of the biggest downsides on the R11 is the micro-USB port. It is quite disappointing seeing the R11 having a micro-USB port while many budget smartphones have already got a USB Type-C port.
Battery life & Camera
The OPPO R11 supports VOOC Flash Charge while the OnePlus 5 comes with Dash Charge. They are pretty much the same on the inside. Both offer an amazingly fast charging rate. It took only 30 minutes to charge the device up to 65 percent.
As mentioned, the OPPO R11 and OnePlus 5 have the same camera setup on the rear. Their dual camera clusters both include a 16MP main sensor and a 20MP secondary telephoto lens (2x lossless zoom). However, the OnePlus 5 is better thanks to the software processing algorithms and differences in the chipset
OPPO R11 vs. OnePlus 5: Which should you buy?
OnePlus 5 is certainly the more viable choice. OnePlus has done a great job at offering high-end hardware specifications and design for a much more affordable price tag than the competition.
In terms of the value proposition, the OPPO R11 is miles behind the OnePlus 5, but it is still a great choice in its own segment. However, considering the R11 OPPO price tag, we would recommend purchasing the OnePlus 5 instead.
