The OnePlus 9 Pro, along with the OnePlus 9, will be the company’s next top phone after the recent unveiling of the OnePlus 8T. If your plan is to grab the OnePlus 9 Pro as soon as it is released, here is all information regarding the OnePlus 9 Pro release date, price, specs, and rumors.
OnePlus 9 Pro Release Date
Typically, OnePLus teases its phones ahead of the launch. So we will hear something in March. According to Android Central, one source has said that OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro in March, earlier than expected. A second source has also mentioned that March might be the chosen month.
OnePlus 9 Pro Price
In terms of price, it is difficult to speak. The OnePlus 8 cost $699. For more RAM and storage, the price jumped to $799. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 8 Pro costs $899 and $999 for a higher-end version.
Those smartphones are expensive. Of course, it is nowhere near the eye-watering costs of the Samsung Galaxy S series. However, it is still pricier compared to the old pricing of OnePlus phones.
OnePlus 9 Pro Design
A render from Steve Hmmerstoffer suggests that the OnePlus 9 Pro may share some similarities with its older siblings in terms of design. It will have a quad-rear camera setup, a curved 6.7-inch screen. On the top-left will be a punch-hole for a selfie camera.
Digital Chat Station reveals the rear camera array of the OnePlus 9 Pro with two large main lenses and a smaller camera or a flash module. On the front, a tiny selfie camera is in the top left corner just like what stated in the previous rumor. The drawings suggest that the power button and what seems to be the Alert Slider will be on the right side of the phone while the volume rocker will be on the left.
OnePlus 9 Pro Specs & Features
The OnePlus 9 Pro is said to have a 6.7-inch display, slightly smaller than the screen of the OnePlus 8 Pro at 6.78-inch. The OnePlus 8T’s display has a refresh rate of 120Hz. So we also expect the OnePlus 9 series models would feature this.
As for internals, expect that the flagship line will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 with at least 8G of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If OnePlus decides to go for a larger body and a larger display, we could see the OnePlus 9 series have a bulkier battery than the 4,500mAh battery of the OnePlus 8T.
For charging, we expect the phones will have a 65W Warp Charge. On January 4, Max Jambor hinted about the OnePlus 9 Pro’s wireless charging specs. According to Jambor, the phone will have 45W wireless charging, an upgrade from the 30W speeds of the OnePlus 8 Pro.
OnePlus 9 Pro will be the only smartphone in the lineup to have an IP68 dust and water resistance rating.
What we want to see
1. A main camera with a higher resolution
The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro both have 48MP main cameras. But there are companies that make smartphones with 64MP and 108MP cameras. So it would be great to see some improvement.
Of course, the resolution is not the only factor deciding the quality of pictures. However, the pixel size is important. So we would love to see OnePlus equip its OnePLus 9 or just the Pro a high-res main camera or just a main primary snapper to have bigger pixels.
2. Two selfie cameras
The OnePlus Nord comes with two selfie cameras. That means it is possible to take standard photos or wide-angle ones. So we would like the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro to have this as well, as consumers will have different choices for selfies.
The second selfie camera wouldn’t need to be equipped with a wide field-of-view though.
3. A 4K screen
We understand that in most situations, a 4K display isn’t necessary. The OnePlus 8 Pro’s 2K is generally enough. However, a “Pro” should come with a more limited appeal.
With 5G, streaming movies, TV, and games in high resolution are not out of hand any more. So it would be great to see the first non-Sony phone to have a 4K screen.
4. Palm rejection technology
The OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro don’t have palm rejection tech. For the OnePlus 9, we would love to see it have this tech.
Palm rejection technology makes sure that if you accidentally touch the phone screen’s curved edge, the device will instantly know that you don’t mean it and nothing will happen. This will stop you from accidentally opening apps or swiping between menus.
That is all the information that we have got regarding the OnePlus 9 Pro release date, specs, price, and rumors. We will update this article if more information is available.
