After releasing full images, leaking camera details, OnePlus has recently boasted the ability of its new phone’s screen. The company took to its community forum to announce the impressive hardware of the OnePlus 9 Pro display.
Its post reveals that the upcoming OnePlus 9 Pro features an LTPO panel, a new technology that Samsung is slowly adopting on its flagship phones. Basically, the tech allows the screen to adjust the refresh rate according to the content on display.
Handsets like Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra have refresh rates ranging from 10Hz to 120Hz to make sure the high refresh rate doesn’t tax the battery life. According to OnePlus, the Fluid Display 2.0 on OnePlus 9 Pro allows it to achieve a rate as low as 1Hz. The company has also enhanced the display so that it consumes 50% less power than other 120Hz panels.
The post also touts the HyperTouch technology which streamlines the process between the processor and the display to reduce touch response by 25ms to 30ms. This reduction could make OnePlus 9 Pro one of the best handsets for gaming, much like its predecessor OnePlus 8 Pro.
The company’s CEO Pete Lau also has a separate post on Twitter comparing the phone with the Galaxy S21 Ultra:
Samsung is often associated with excellent display technology. The company also adopted the LTPO panel last year. Let’s wait and see if OnePlus can dethrone this reigning king.
