OnePlus is expected to announce the OnePlus 8 series in Q2 this year and it could consist of models instead of two like its predecessor OnePlus 7 lineup. The series reportedly include OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and a more affordable OnePlus 8 Lite. Last month, the first set of CAD renders of the phone surfaced online thanks to leakster OnLeaks. They revealed that the handset would pack dual cameras on the rear and a punch-hole display with a center-aligned cut-out. Recently, several photos posted by SlashLeaks also showed a dummy of the OnePlus 8 Lite, but the device was revealed with a triple camera setup instead of dual rear cameras.
Now, OnLeaks shares an updated render image of the handset with a triple camera setup. The leaked photo seems to show a lot of OnePlus smartphones placed in a plastic container. The blue-colored smartphone with a triple rear camera system appears to be the OnePlus 8 Lite, as we haven’t seen any OnePlus smartphone to feature such camera placement.
In the updated render by OnLeaks, the handset is packed triple rear cameras at the upper left corner. On the right side of the top sensor is an LED flash while the iconic is still placed in the center of the back panel, which appears to be made of glass. On the front, it sports a punch-hole display with the hole being placed in the top-center of the screen. Since there is no fingerprint sensor at the back of the device and the power button doesn’t seem to be flat to be mounted with one, so we could assume that the brand goes for an under-display fingerprint sensor.
OnePlus 8 Lite: Rumored Price & Specifications
Last month, a specs sheet of the OnePlus 8 lineup showed up on Weibo. The sheet revealed key specs of the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, and 8 Lite. The 8 Lite is tipped to flaunt a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio, FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080p) resolution, and a 90Hz refresh rate.
Powering the phone could be MediaTek’s new chipset - Dimensity 1000 SoC. Paired with the chipset is said to be 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB / 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage. The leaked spec sheet also mentioned that the 8 Lite would carry a triple camera setup, including a 48MP Sony IMX586 main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, and a 12MP telephoto lens. Moreover, the camera setup will likely support both EIS and OIS while the selfie camera is said to be a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor. It will be fueled by a 4,000 mAh battery that can be refilled with 30W quick charging technology.
Finally, the OnePlus 8 Lite is expected to be set at CNY 2,999 (around Rs 30,900) for the 128GB storage model and CNY 3,299 (around Rs. 34,000) for the 256GB storage model. However, you should take all of these with a grain of salt and wait for the official details.
