OnePlus 6T Has Strange Battery Drain, Users Reported

Several users have reported that their OnePlus 6T phones' battery life has decreased dramatically over the last couple of days.

As 2018 closed, OnePlus released the OnePlus 6T flagship smartphone featuring a waterdrop top notch, 3,700mAh battery, and an in-display fingerprint reader. It’s worth noting that with such huge battery capacity, the phone is expected to live a full day on a single charge. However, in the last few days, a number of users have been experiencing a strange battery drain.

Several owners of the OnePlus 6T have come to Reddit to share their frustration. One user reported that the phone could last only half the time as before. In response, this user restricted background apps, deleting cache as well as updated the 6T to the latest software from T-Mobile, but it seems that all efforts were useless. At present, it remains unknown what bug has caused this situation.

In another instance, a user said his phone used to last about six or seven hours of screen-on time, but the last two days have seen a considerable reduction to only four hours.

Besides extreme battery drain, another user said his OnePlus 6T was getting extremely high heat. Notably, the user managed to fix the problem by resetting the factory.

The Chinese smartphone maker has not confirmed the issue yet. In the meantime, it may help to perform a factory reset if users run into the same problems with their OnePlus 6T.
