HMD will introduce the Nokia 8.1 at HMD Global’s event on 5 December. But the Nokia may have just teased its Nokia 8.1 in a Red color variant ahead of its introduction. Nokia has just teased a new Nokia model which is believed to be the Nokia X7’s global variant. The phone comes with a 6.18-inch FullHD+ display with the aspect ratio of 18.7:9 and is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC. Nokia 8.1 owners will be able to take photos with a dual rear camera system along with a 20MP front-facing camera.
A teaser video was just posted by the official Twitter account of Nokia Mobile India suggesting the Nokia 8.1’s launch. The video with only 9 seconds long does not show the phone, but it still highlights a red roses’ image and says, "The picture's about to get rosy with an epic viewing experience. Get ready to #ExpectMore [sic]." Along with that, the video outlines a model’s silhouette that can be the upcoming Nokia 8.1
MySmartPrice believes that this teaser may suggest that this Nokia 8.1 will come with a Lush Red color option. The variant of this phone in the Indian market is expected to come with a similar Night Red option.
The Nokia 8.1 will launch at an HMD Global’s even in Dubai on 5 December alongside the Nokia 9 and the Nokia 2.1 Plus. The phone is suggested to be the Nokia X7’s global variant which was just launched in the Chinese market last month. Last month, it also was spotted on Geekbench with specs similar to the Nokia X7. But the phone seems to run Android Pie 9.0.
According to the industry sources, Nokia 8.1 is believed to be priced at Rs. 23,999 in the Indian market for the 6GB of RAM/128GB of storage variant. The Nokia which was just launched in the Chinese market last month is priced at 1,699 CNY (around Rs. 17,340) for the lowest variant of 4GB of RAM/64GB of storage, while the variant with 6GB of RAM/64GB of storage costs 1,999 CNY (around Rs. 20,400) and the top variant with 6GB of RAM/128GB of storage costs 2,499 CNY (around Rs. 25,450).
If this phone will indeed come as the Nokia X7’s global variant, both phones’ specs will be the same to each other. The Nokia 8.1 will most likely run the latest Android version - Android 9.1 Pie and sport a 6.18-inch FullHD+ display. The phone is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC along with 4/6GB of RAM as well as 64/128GB of storage which is expandable via microSD slot (400GB maximum).
In terms of camera, the phone will likely feature a dual rear camera system with a 12MP primary sensor and a 13MP secondary sensor. The phone will also let users take selfies with a 20MP camera. Finally, it is expected to be powered by a 3,500 mAh battery and support 18W fast charging.
