Compared to other smartphones, with its better screen quality, chipset, and battery life, the Motorola One 5G is such a good all-rounder. The fact that there is 5G tech makes the offer even more tempting. As a cheap 5G handset, it is good, but not a game-changer. Check out our Motorola One 5G review to find out more about the device.

Motorola One 5G Release Date

Motorola launched the device in September 2020. It goes by the name Motorola One 5G in the US while in the UK and Europe, it is sold under a different name, the Moto G 5G Plus.

Motorola One 5G Price

The One 5G has only one version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Its price is $444.49. Meanwhile, the G 5G Plus has a variant with 64GB of storage. Motorola One 5G Design

The Motorola One 5G is a plus-sized handset, for sure. Compared to its siblings, it is bigger. It has a larger screen but it isn’t too wide. The dimensions of the phone are 168 x 74 x 9mm. It weighs 207g, so it is a bit heavier than your normal handset.

The screen takes up most of the space on the front with a fairly minimal bezel and the dual punch-hole cutouts housing the cameras.

At the back are a square camera bump, the Motorola logo, and a large flash module.

At the back are a square camera bump, the Motorola logo, and a large flash module. The back of the phone is made of plastic. However, it doesn’t feel cheap at all.

The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, which is a surprise since the fingerprint scanner of Moto G phones is typically on the back. On the right is the power button, right below the volume rocker. On the left is a Google Assistant button with which you can summon your AI companion. You will have a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There is only one color available, a blue shade.

Motorola One 5G Display

Motorola decides to go with 21:9 screens for its One 5G. There is a drawback common to all phones with a 21:9 screen is that it is quite long and difficult to put into your pocket.

Diagonally, the screen of the smartphone measures at 6.7 inches, making the One 5G one of the biggest handsets of Motorola. The display has a resolution of 1080 x 2520 (2K). With its HDR10 rating, it is nice to look at. You have a refresh rate of 90Hz, making navigation feel smooth. If you want to save battery life, you can tune this down to 60Hz. This is the first affordable phone from Motorola that has a 90Hz display.

Motorola One 5G Camera

The device has six cameras, two on the front and four on the back. But quantity doesn’t necessarily indicate quality. For photography, the phone is okay, not great.

On the front, you have a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture for group shots. In well-lit conditions, photos look pretty good. Selfies have plenty of detail. When you switch to the main camera, Portrait mode produces generally good bokeh effects.

For a selfie camera, you have a beauty mode. But to be honest, the pictures look horrifying.

On the back, you have a 48MP main camera with an f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide one with an f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP macro lens with an aperture of f/2.2, and a 2MP f2/2 depth camera.

In terms of detail, photos from the main camera are fine. But they aren’t freat for contrast or color. Optical zoom isn’t available. However, you have an 8x digital zoom. The smartphone can record 4K videos.

Motorola One 5G Specs & Performance

The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset which you would normally find in some high mid-range smartphones. Thanks to it, the One 5G feels snappier than other Moto phones.

Moto One 5g Gaming

Apps load quickly and games play smoothly. In a benchmark test, the device managed to score 1822. While it isn’t an incredible score, for its price point, it is great. Its score is right above the Oppo Reno 2 at 1739 and below the Honor 9x Pro at 1858.

As the name suggests, this is a 5G phone.

For software, the device has Android 10.

Motorola One 5G Battery Life

The Motorola One 5G comes with a beefy 5,000mAh battery. It can last you a whole day whether it is just for social media or streaming music, playing lots of games and watching Netflix. The charging speed is 20W. After one hour of charging, the battery goes from 0 to 65%.
