Moto G7 Plus Hands-On Review: It Is Worth The Price?

Since the launch of the Moto G7 series, the Plus model has been quite a lot of attention. Check out our hands-on review of the Moto G7 Plus to see if the phone can live up to expectations.

The launch event of the Moto G7 series took place in São Paulo, and Motorola demonstrated to four new G7 series phones at different prices and orientations. As expected, the Moto G7 Plus is the largest and best model of this model.

Moto G7 Plus 1

The design of the Moto G7 Plus is not so different from other models as it still comes with a curved glass back and sturdy aluminum frame. The fingerprint sensor on the phone is placed on the back and directly on the company logo. This is a very interesting idea of Motorola as it makes the Moto G7 Plus rear panel look simpler.

Of course, there are still some special details for the Plus model such as a small teardrop on the front help the phone to get a better screen-to-body ratio without increasing its size. This is one of the designs that have already been used on many smartphones today.

Moto G7 Plus 3

Returning to the rear panel of the Moto G7 Plus, we can see the familiar round camera module housing two camera sensors. Below the module will be a dual-tone LED flash.

Moto G7 Plus 4

Curved glass forms the front surface, and a wrap-around frame separates its display glass from the back panel. This is suitable for phones with large screens like the Moto G7 Plus and makes it easier for users to hold the phone with one hand. Connection ports such as USB-C and 3.5mm headphone jacks are still available on the device.

Moto G7 Plus 5

In general, the Moto G7 Plus is a product with solid quality. The version I have on hand is the Deep Indigo color, which is quite simple and suitable for those that like elegant style. This could be called one of the best Moto G phones to date.

Moto G7 Plus 6

The Moto G7 Plus screen measures 6.24 inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2270 pixels, an aspect ratio of 19:9, providing vivid colors and high brightness. The small notch on the top houses a 12MP selfie camera, and it has thin surrounding edges. However, its bottom chin is still pretty thick with a Motorola branding.

Moto G7 Plus 7

The pre-installed software for the Moto G7 Plus is Android Pie with fast updates thanks to the cooperation of Motorola and Google. However, the device also has Moto’s proprietary software which brings a lot of convenience to its users. The Moto G7 plus is expected to receive an update to Android Q in the future.

Moto G7 Plus 6

Moto G7 Plus hardware specifications don't really stand out if compared it to other competitors in the same segment, but will still meet the needs of basic users. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If you feel that it is not enough, you can expand up to 512GB of storage, through the microSD card slot.

Moto G7 Plus 8

It's quite unfortunate that with the big screen, the Moto G7 Plus only has a 3,000 mAh battery. In return, the device will support fast charging with the TurboPower 27W charger included in the box.

Moto G7 Plus 9

Speaking of photography, Motorola's "Plus" phones often have the best camera settings and the Moto G7 Plus is no exception. At the rear, the system has two sensors with a 16MP primary lens with an f/1.7 aperture, ideal for shooting in low light environments and 5MP secondary depth sensor with an aperture of f/2.2.

Moto G7 Plus 11

Motorola has started offering the Moto G7 Plus to the market at a price of about 300 EUR, equivalent to about Rs. 23,400. It is unclear whether the company intends to bring the Moto G7 Plus to the Indian market in the future. For now, the company has launched two phones in the G7 series which are Moto G7 and Moto G7 Power in the country.
