Lenovo-owned Motorola just silently launched the Moto E6, which is the first Moto E smartphone to launch this year with a more powerful processor and Android 9 Pie. Compared to its predecessor Moto E5, the new Moto E6 has some upgrades and downgrades in certain areas. Unlike last year when Motorola announced four E models, only one Moto E smartphone has been announced this year. However, tipster Evan Blass claims that there will be more smartphones on the way. The brand also launched the upgraded models of the Moto Z and Moto G smartphones.
Moto E6: Price
The handset is priced at $149, which is equivalent to around Rs. 10,200. The handset is now up for grabs in the US market from today via Verizon Wireless, while customers in other markets might have to wait for a bit longer. We can’t confirm whether the company will bring the phone to the Indian market, as it previously said that it wouldn’t launch any smartphone in the sub-Rs. 10,000 segment in India unless it sees profitability.
Moto E6: Specifications
The Moto E6 sports a 5.5-inch HD+ display, which is smaller than the 5.7-inch HD+ screen on the Moto E5. It is also packed a smaller 3,000 mAh battery in comparison to the beefy 4,000mAh cell on the E5. In terms of design, we don’t see any significant difference between the two. The E6 still features a plastic body, though users can now remove the back panel.
Under the hood, it comes with some upgrades over its predecessor. Powering the phone is a faster Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor, which is said to be 50 percent more powerful than the Snapdragon 420 packed on the Moto E5. Paired with the processor are 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The handset is equipped with a microSD card slot for expanding the storage. We can also see a headphone jack at the bottom, though it seems the phone doesn’t have a fingerprint reader.
In terms of camera, the handset sports a 13MP single rear camera and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video chats. Finally, it boots Android 9 Pie at launch.
