MediaTek has just launched a new mid-range chipset called Helio P95. This is considered an upgraded version of Helio P90 last year with higher clock speed. It is also equipped with AI processor (APU) 2.0 which is claimed by the company to be capable of handling AI tasks much faster than its predecessor.
The Helio P95 is a mid-range octa-core chipset, featuring two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 6 Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It comes with a larger L3 cache, integrating the Imagination PowerVR GM 94446 GPU. The chipset is claimed to have a 10% more powerful performance than the Helio P90.
The chipset supports up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM (1866 MHz) and UFS 2.1 storage. In addition, it also supports single 64MP or dual 24MP + 16MP cameras, displays with up to 2520 x 1080 pixels resolution and 21: 9 aspect ratio.
MediaTek's new chipset is equipped with three image processors (ISPs), capable of handling 14-bit RAW files and 10-bit YUV. In addition, it also has improvements to AI cameras such as multiple scene- and object-identification, 5-person human pose tracking, “AI-NR" low-light photography mode, and AI Depth Engine.
The Helio P95 comes with APU 2.0 (AI Processor) that MediaTek claims to be 10% more efficient than the previous generation. The chipset also features HyperEngine technology, allowing customizations to the phone to provide a faster and smoother gaming experience for users.
Regarding connectivity, Helio P95 supports 4G LTE, Cat. 13 upload speeds, Cat .12 download speeds, 4x4 MIMO antenna design, 256 QAM, VoLTE, ViLTE, 2 SIM - 4G Dual VoLTE, Band 71, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Currently, it is not clear which smartphones will use the new Helio P95. In addition, MediaTek has not revealed the specific time frame that the first device using this chipset will be launched.
