Due to the coronavirus outbreak, LG had to cancel its event at the upcoming MWC 2020. Previously, LG planned to launch its next two flagship smartphones, LG G9 ThinQ and LG V60 ThinQ at this event. However, with the new schedule, LG V60 ThinQ will be launched in a separate event, taking place in March.
According to previous leaks, the upcoming LG V60 ThinQ is said to have a flat display with about 6.7 - 6.9 inches in size and a U-shaped notch at the top. Now, two new photos shared by leaker Evan Blass hint at quad rear cameras on the phone. Moreover, the image also shows four microphones, two of which placed at the top and bottom. You can also see that the water-drop notch at the top will house a selfie sensor. At the bottom, there will be a USB Type-C port, next to a headphone jack and a speaker grille.
We were quite disappointed with LG's decision to use a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the LG V50 ThinQ. Now, it seems like the brand finally decides to go for an under-display fingerprint sensor in its flagship. You can see a fingerprint sensor placed under the display on the above photo.
Inside, this smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 865 processor. The battery capacity is confirmed as 5,000 mAh, equivalent to Samsung's most high-end Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G.
It's undeniable that LG needs a major change, to save the smartphone business, which has been facing many difficulties. LG's mobile division alone reported a loss of $ 850 million in 2019, which LG blames the decline in sales in international markets.

LG V60 ThinQ: Hands-On
The newly announced LG V60 ThinQ 5G is a high-end smartphone that’s meant to directly compete with Samsung’s Galaxy S20. Like last year’s G8X ThinQ and V50 thinQ, the V60 ThinQ 5G is compatible with a Dual Screen case that adds another screen to the handset.
While the availability date and price of the phone remains unknown, LG did say that the V60 will come at a price lower than that of the S20, whose 5G version now costs Rs 71,500. However, considering the G8X from last year costing Rs 55,800, the V60 may cost more than that. And as the phone has already been announced, here are hands-on photos that will give up a closer look at the LG V60 ThinQ 5G.
Design
The V60 sports an OLED screen that measures 6.8 inches, which is 0.4 inches larger than last year’s model. The additional space on the display makes it more comfortable for users to watch videos as well as browse the web while the colors are vibrant and rich. However, at such a large size, it could be difficult to use the smartphone on one hand, not to mention when you fit it in the accessory case.
It will take you some time to master the Dual Screen, finding specific actions by tapping around the display. But once you’ve got used to it, there are several benefits you can enjoy. Now that you have two displays, you can use one of them as a game controller, or multitask on both displays, or expand an app across them like on a tablet. The Dual Screen case can be used as a stand or removed completely.
Camera
While recent smartphones have three or four cameras on average, the V60 ThinQ 5G has two only. However, it’s not a deal-breaker at all because while more cameras mean more photo options, most regular users don’t need that many.
On the back, there is a 64MP main lens along with a 13MP wide-angle camera. You can capture photos at either the full resolution or at 16 megapixels. The second options is possible thanks to the pixel binning technique, which essentially combines a sensor’s pixels, improving photos in low-light environments.
There is also a ToF camera for depth-sensing and AR applications, such as selfie stickers and the 3D photo effect. With this, you can take portraits featuring a sense of depth, but this capability needs further refining on the V60 ThinQ 5G.
The handset supports 8K video capturing and up to 10x digital zoom. On the front, there is a 10MP lens for taking selfies.

LG V60 ThinQ: Launch News
Yesterday, LG has finally launched its first flagship smartphone with the Snapdragon 865 SoC called LG V60 ThinQ. The phone also has 5G support, 8K video recording, and triple rear cameras.
On the front, the LG V60 ThinQ features a 6.8-inch OLED screen, Full HD + resolution, 20.5: 9 ratio, has a waterdrop design to accommodate a 10 MP selfie camera and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, this phone has a Snapdragon 865 processor, comes with 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage, and a Snapdragon X55 5G modem, allowing the device to connect 5G on both mmWave and 6GHz sub-bands.
Going around the back, the V60 ThinQ has a horizontal cluster with three cameras. The camera placement looks quite similar to the Galaxy S10+. The setup includes a 64 MP main sensor, 13 MP ultra-wide angle sensor, and a ToF camera. It is known that this camera cluster has the ability to shoot 8K similar to the Galaxy S20.
In addition, the remaining specifications of the phone include a massive 5,000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4+ technology. To take care of the software side of things, the phone runs Android 10 with LG UX 9.0 interface on top. Other features of the LG V60 ThinQ are stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, four microphones, IP68 dust and water resistance, and MIL-STD 810G military durability.
Besides, LG did not forget to upgrade the Dual Screen accessory of V60 ThinQ. Now, it has a 6.8-inch screen on an OLED panel, with Full HD + resolution and a hinge capable of 360 degrees rotation, allowing users to place the phone in many different positions. At the same time, it also comes with a 2.1-inch notification screen that supports always-on feature.
Finally, the LG V60 ThinQ will be available in the late spring with two color options, Blue and White, but the price of the device has not been disclosed.
