LG is expected to launch the next generation of its LG G flagship series. The name of the upcoming addition in the LG G series has already been confirmed to be LG G8 ThinQ, and it will be announced at the MWC 2019 event. Ahead of the launch, a new press render of the phone has just surfaced online, giving us a good idea of the phone in many angles. This new leak is also in line with the previous renders of this phone.
It seems like LG will keep going for the same notch design of the LG G7 ThinQ on its successor. As per the leaked render, the LG G8 ThinQ has a similar look to its predecessor, with an edge-to-edge display and a small notch on the front. On the back, there is a dual camera setup and a single LED flash aligned horizontally while the camera setup on the LG G7 ThinQ is stacked vertically instead. Under the rear camera module is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. It appears that the phone will come with a glass back, which is rumored to be for wireless charging.
The left and right spines of the handset are where the volume rocker, power button, and Google Assistant button are. You can see a speaker grill, USB-C port, and an audio jack on the bottom of the phone.
In terms of specifications, the LG G8 will most likely sport a 6.1-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels. It is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC, paired with 6GB RAM/128GB storage and backed by a 3,300 mAh battery. As a flagship phone in 2019, it will inevitably run the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box. The phone maker already confirmed that its upcoming flagship will have a ToF (Time-of-Flight) camera for 3D face mapping. The details of the camera setup on the rear haven’t been revealed yet.
The LG G8 ThinQ is set to launch on 28 February. However, the phone’s release date is tipped to be 22 March.
