By the beginning of this year, a series of phone manufacturers took part in the competition of releasing 48MP camera smartphones. However, within just few months later, these players seem to move to race higher-resolution cameras. Xiaomi and Realme are competing to become the first one to release a 64MP camera phone.
While the first 64MP camera phone from Realme is set to debut in September, the Chinese phone maker seems to be one step ahead when announcing to launch its 64MP phone - Redmi Note 8 Pro on 29 August in China. And here are several features that have been revealed so far:
Redmi Note 8 Pro Display
The phone is expected to be the first device in the Note series to sport a pop-up selfie shooter.
According to leaked photos, the Redmi Note 8 will flaunt a dewdrop notch on the top for housing a selfie sensor. Meanwhile, the Pro variant will sport an all-view display with truly bezel-less design and a rising selfie cam.
The handsets will both have rear-aligned fingerprint scanners. Also, they are said to have USB-C ports with fast charging support and 3.5 audio jacks. Unfortunately, there has been no information about the phone’s display sizes so far. However, it is likely that the pair will sport displays larger than 6 inches.
Redmi Note 8 Performance
The company has announced that the Note 8 Pro variant will be powered by gaming-focused Helio G90T octa-core SoC launched back in July 2019. The chipset includes ARM Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores clocked at up to 2.05 GHz. Meanwhile, the Note 8 is confirmed to come with a Snapdragon 665 chipset. As for the configuration, the Note 8 is tipped to have 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, while the Pro variant will come in two memory variants including 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 128GB storage.
Redmi Note 8 Software
In terms of software, the upcoming duo is revealed to run Android 9.0 Pie-based MIUI 10 at launch. Additionally, they will also be one of the first phones from Xiaomi to be upgraded to MIUI 11 which is set to launch in September.
Redmi Note 8 Cameras
The company has already confirmed the Note 8 Pro will become the world’s first phone to come with a 64MP primary sensor on the back. The company will use the Bright GW1 ISOCELL sensor from Samsung for the same, promising amazing shooting capabilities in low light conditions. Official photos of the Note 8 Pro have proved that the device will feature a quad rear camera module.
Meanwhile, the vanilla Note 8 will come with four cameras on the back as well, according to leaked photos spotted on FCC’s database. Unfortunately, the company has not confirmed if the Redmi Note 8 series smartphones will feature 64MP camera, although some rumors show that the vanilla Note 8 will have a 48MP Samsung GM2 sensor instead of GM1 one. The handset is confirmed to come with a primary rear, paired with a super-wide sensor, a super macro sensor, and a depth sensor.
Other specifications
Regarding the remaining specifications of the duo, the Redmi Note 8 and its Pro variant will support the 18W quick charging technology. Additionally, the company also announced that these devices will also feature Liquid Cooling tech to keep their devices cool during the graphics-intensive gaming session. But the information about the battery capacities of the phones has not been revealed yet. However, it is expected that they will come with at least 4,000 mAh battery.
Redmi Note 8 Launch And Pricing
Although the pricing for the Redmi Note 8 lineup has not been spotted online, we expected them to have a competitive price tag to compete with the rival Realme XT. Regarding the availability, the phones will be available for sales in China first a few days after the official launch in China on 29 August. The phones are also tipped to be unveiled in the Indian market before Diwali.
