Two months ago, Vivo already confirmed that it would be announcing a 5G smartphone under iQOO brand in Q3 this year. At the end of July, its sub-brand iQOO revealed that the iQOO Pro 5G would make its debut in August. Now, the brand has officially confirmed that the launch date of the phone in China to be 22 August via its Weibo.
The poster doesn’t reveal anything aside from the launch date of the phone. It doesn’t give out any specs at all. We believe that the Vivo 5G phone with model number V1916A that recently passed through China’s 3C might be the forthcoming iQOO Pro 5G. As per the listing, the smartphone could feature a 44W fast charging solution.
Powering the phone will be a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC, which is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 855 chipset on the gaming-centric Vivo iQOO launched in April. After ROG Phone II and Black Shark 2 Pro, the upcoming iQOO Pro 5G might be the third phone to feature the new Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. However, it will be the first phone with the chipset that supports 5G connectivity, thanks to the Snapdragon X50 5G modem.
iQOO’s Vice President Feng Yufei said that the Pro 5 would be an exceptional device in aspects like cameras, gaming experience, sound quality, and performance. Most of its specifications are still remain unknown at the moment. However, we believe that the iQOO Pro 5 and iQOO will share a few similarities in specs.
The handset might still sport a dewdrop notch display with an on-screen fingerprint reader for biometric security. Fueling it could be a beefy 4,500 mAh battery, with support for 44W fast charging tech, according to a recent listing on 3C. At the back, there will likely be triple cameras. Paired with the Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC could be 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. In terms of price, it could be coming with a price of CNY 4,498 (around Rs. 45,200). Hopefully, the brand will share some details about the phone in the upcoming week.
