According to the latest analysis released by Counterpoint Research, the winner for the title of world’s best-selling smartphone is Apple’s iPhone X. The next three positions in the best-selling list still belong to Apple phones while the Redmi 5A claims the fifth spot.
However, it is not the case in China where the results are surprisingly different. The title for the best-selling phone in China belongs to the Oppo R15 while the iPhone X is pushed to the second place. Oppo also has 2 more smartphones that are in the top 5 best-selling smartphones which are the budget Oppo A83 and the mid-range Oppo A5.
The Chinese market is a bit more diversified as shown by the data. However, China’s best-selling list is still dominated by the Chinese phone makers as 8 out of 10 smartphones are belong to the domestic companies, with the two outsiders are belong to Apple, the iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.
It is also worth mentioning that despite being in the top three biggest smartphone brands in the world in 2018, Huawei doesn’t have any name on the list of the best-selling phone either in China or in the world. The Chinese giant had been flooding the smartphone market too much that consumers have a ton of choices. According to Counterpoint clarification, Huawei’s best-selling smartphone was the P20 Lite with more than 13 million devices, but it was still not enough to get into any of the lists.
