iPhone SE 2020 is Apple’s latest affordable iPhone model. The device was announced last week at a price of $399 (around Rs. 30,400). In case you don’t know, the SE 2020 gets the body of the iPhone 8 and the power of the A13 Bionic chipset, which is also used inside the iPhone 11 smartphones. With that chipset, many would have thought the phone to have nearly as high performance as the current flagships. However, it seems like that is not the case as the handset has just been benchmarked by the AnTuTu platform and the result was not as expected.
The iPhone SE 2020 achieved a relatively lower score compared to that of the iPhone 11, which is 4,92,166 points. To recall, the iPhone 11 Pro’s score was 5,21,010 points with the same A13 Bionic chipset. However, don’t underestimate the power of the new iPhone model as its score is still at the same level as the iPhone XS & iPhone SX Max that come with an A12 chipset.
Memory speed is the only thing that separates between the iPhone SE and iPhone XS and keeps it closer to the iPhone 11 Pro. The unexpected score of the SE 2020 could be because it is equipped with an underclocked A13 chipset to increase its battery life. However, that is only speculation and the lower benchmark score could be explained by the RAM difference. While the SE 2020 packs 3GB of RAM the iPhone 11 Pro has 4GB of RAM. Either way, the performance of this phone is undoubtedly better than another Android smartphone available in the market for around Rs. 30,000.
iPhone SE 2020: Specifications & Features
To recall, the device is equipped with a 4.7” Retina display with HD+ resolution and thick bezels at the top and bottom. For security, there is a TouchID sensor mounted inside the Home button. As mentioned, it gets the power from an A13 Bionic SoC, aided by 3GB RAM + 64/128/256GB of storage. It is pre-loaded with iOS 13 at launch to take care of the software side of things. Camera-wise, Apple goes for a single 12MP camera at the back that supports dual-tone, dual-pixel PDAF, dual-LED flash, and OIS. On the front, a 7MP single sensor is available for selfies, and video chats. Finally, other features of this device include Dolby Vision, HDR10, Wi-Fi calling, IP67 water-resistance, stereo speakers, and Dolby Vision.
