Apple has just released the iPhone 12 lineup but it doesn’t mean it’s too soon for us to think of iPhone 13. Leaks and rumors have already been circulating and here are what we know so far:
iPhone 13 Launching Event
Apple used to launch new iPhones in June so we have reason to believe the official announcement of the iPhone 13 will be made in October next year.
Rumor has it that Apple will change the time of its biannual release process next year. This claim has its point as Apple held another event in November this year.
So if the rumor turns out to be true, we will hear about iPhone 13 as early as March.
iPhone 13 Pre-Order
Pre-order announcements are made alongside the launch so we have no other way to know but to wait for the release event. If you are having your eyes on next year’s iPhones, be ready for fierce competition – 2 million iPhone 12 were pre-ordered in 24 hours after the lineup was made public.
iPhone 13 Release Date
Apple always releases new iPhones shortly after announcing them so much like the pre-order time frame, we will have to wait for the phone to be announced to know when to expect them on the market.
iPhone 13 Price
At this point, we have too little information on the pricing scheme of the iPhone 13 lineup. Our best guess is if the rumor of Apple releasing five new handsets is true, expect their prices to be between $350 and $1,100.
The price spread is wide but if Apple is really after market domination, releasing more affordable phones is unavoidable.
High-priced handsets can hardly help Apple gain the largest market share despite the love and devotion of its fans.
iPhone 13’s Number Of Models
Rumors are circulating that iPhone 13 will bear a striking resemblance to 2020’s iPhones. The number of devices is believed to be the same too.
If that rumor holds true, we will have two handsets belonging to the budget-friendly price bracket and two Pro variants.
Another rumor suggests the existence of the fifth model called iPhone SE Plus or iPhone SE 2, which will resemble the iPhone 8 but with a biometric sensor and a different look.
The iPhone 12 Mini is getting lots of good reviews so if consumers welcome it, Apple will likely introduce another small iPhone in the iPhone 13 lineup.
The color scheme is rumored to be the same. Apple offers its handsets in white, black, green, blue, and red. The finishes are expected to stay the same with graphite, gold, Pacific Blue, and silver.
iPhone 13 Design and Key Features
Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities speculates a wholly wireless experience with iPhone 13. Kuo has a long list of accurate projections so we have reason to believe he might be right this time too. His report also said Apple will omit the Lighting port.
A 2019’s patent Apple Insider uncovers points to an iPhone without the Lighting port and no buttons. It also shows the six sides of the phone encased in glass with a waterfall display.
Some other rumors claim the comeback of Touch ID and the first time ever an iPhone will have both Touch ID and Face ID. This might be true as the latest iPad Air still have Touch ID, which speaks volume of Apple’s ongoing interest in the technology.
At this point, the idea of a port-less iPhone and Touch ID in the display seems to attract lots of attention. Leaks and rumors around iPhone 13 with no port and an enhanced charging and battery tech have been going on for some time now and it’s nice to see something like that makes it to the market.
iPhone 13 Specs and Hardware
Specs-wise, some rumors claim that iPhone 13 will feature a 120Hz ProMotion Display, a better battery, no ports, four cameras, and more storage.
Another speculation said Apple will switch to Qualcomm's X60 5G modem next year, which is a real relief as the current X55 is a piece of bad news for battery life.
iOS 15
Apple usually releases new iOS in spring so we have reason to expect iOS 15 to arrive early next year.
