Recently, a source from the iPhonehacks has shared interesting details related to the iPhone 12 Pro and Apple's iOS 14 OS. This is the first time we are seeing information about the camera cluster of this phone.
The report says that Apple will likely increase the camera resolution on the iPhone 12 Pro to compete with its rivals. Accordingly, the Cupertino-based giant is said to be testing iPhone 12 prototypes with a 64MP camera on the back. If this news is to be believed, this will be the first time Apple has equipped a camera with a resolution of greater than 12MP for its iPhone models and this is quite consistent with the trend of the mobile industry today.
Overall, if the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro indeed features a 64MP main sensor, users will be able to get incredibly detailed photos. Additionally, the 64MP sensor will likely help new iPhones support 8K video recording, a feature that most Android 2020 flagships already have.
In addition, Apple will also use a new lens for the ultra-wide-angle camera, allowing up to 35% more light than the current iPhone 11 series. Interestingly, this ultra-wide-angle lens has also been reported to support macro mode, allowing it to focus on subjects at fairly close distances, only 2.2 cm.
For telephoto cameras and front cameras, the report says these lenses will support Night Mode for higher quality low-light photos and the Smart HDR algorithm will also be improved.
The iPhone 12 Pro is also reported to ship with a 10% larger battery than the iPhone 11 Pro Max, with a capacity of 4,400 mAh. This is necessary because the iPhone 12 Pro series is expected to support 5G and 120Hz screen, two features that consume a lot of battery.
iOS 14
The leak also contains some information about iOS 14. The source said Apple will redesign the call screen so it doesn't take up as much space as before. However, like iOS 12, iOS 14 seems to be a small update when it doesn't bring any important new features or changes.
Face ID Periscope System
Finally, the source today shares an interesting piece of information: Apple will work to shrink Face ID components and fit them inside a periscope system. It is unclear if the new design will help improve the quality of the Face ID feature, but it is likely that it will help the notch in the upper bezel significantly narrower than the current iPhone 11 generation.
