Xiaomi's sub-brand Redmi introduced its latest Redmi K20 and K20 Pro in the Indian market a few days ago. As usual, there must have had much excitement regarding the price when it comes down to Xiaomi smartphones. But surprisingly, there has been resentment regarding the new K20 with the starting price of Rs. 21,999. The social media in the country has been busy with a lot of people who rave about the K20 being “overpriced”. And the situation becomes so much escalated that a petition has been filed on Change.org to demand the Redmi K20 price to reduce to Rs. 20,000.

Currently, there have been 502 people signing the above petition. The reason for the petition was given as below:

The question is whether the Redmi K20 is actually overpriced. Well, currently, there has been a lack of reasons for this issue. Besides, some people said that the petition didn’t have proper reason and justification to cut the handset’s pricing as well. Most of whom have just reiterated the phone is “overpriced”.

The Realme X, which is one of the direct competitors to the Redmi K20, doesn't come with a Snapdragon 730 SoC like the Redmi counterpart. Instead, it is powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC, which is already 1.5 years old. As you may know, the processor is considered among the most expensive components to build a smartphone. Moreover, the build materials on the K20 are more premium than the polycarbonate used on Realme X. Not to mention, the K20 also has an additional wide-angle camera, which set it at a higher level than the Realme X. All these points clearly show that the K20 and Realme X are not in the same segment. Therefore, the price of the K20 is justified by the specs it offers.
