Huawei has quietly launched a mid-range smartphone called Huawei Y9a. The phone has quite a few similarities with the Enjoy 20 Plus - introduced in China last week, but comes with a few hardware and design changes.
Huawei Y9a: Price & Availability
The phone comes in 3 different color options including Space Silver, Sakura Pink, and Midnight Black. At the moment, the price and release date of the new mid-range phone have not been disclosed.
Huawei Y9a: Specifications & Features
Huawei Y9a gets a 6.63-inch IPS LCD screen, that supports Full HD + resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels), and an aspect ratio of 20:9. The device is equipped with a pop-up selfie camera, helping it achieve a screen-to-body ratio of up to 92%.
Unlike Enjoy 20 Plus with Dimensity 720 processor, Huawei Y9a has the hardware power from MediaTek's Helio G80 gaming chipset, combined with 6GB / 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 2.1 storage. In addition, it also supports storage expansion via Huawei's exclusive NM card slot.
Moving to the back, Huawei Y9a is equipped with quad cameras placed in a circular module quite similar to that of the Mate30 Pro. The rear camera cluster of the handset includes a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 120-degree viewing angle, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor for portrait photography.
Meanwhile, the Enjoy 20 Plus has only 3 cameras on the back - 48MP main sensor, 8MP super wide-angle camera, and 2MP macro sensor. Not only that, but the selfie camera on the Y9a also has a resolution of up to 16MP, better than the 8MP selfie camera of Enjoy 20 Plus.
It comes with a 4,200mAh battery, but only versions sold in the Middle East, Africa, and some countries in Central Asia support 40W fast charging. In other markets, the Huawei Y9a is still equipped with a 4,200mAh capacity battery but only has support for 22.5W fast charging.
The phone supports 4G LTE connectivity, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB-C port. The device is pre-installed with the Android 10-based EMUI 10.1 interface, running HMS (Huawei Mobile Services), and of course without Google services.
