Only several days ago, the Chinese giant Huawei quietly launched its first phone with a pop-up camera dubbed Huawei P Smart Z on Huawei Italy and Spain’s official websites. The handset is expected to officially be announced very soon. However, before that happening, the company again silently unveiled another smartphone with a pop-up selfie camera called Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) on its website.

The handset is the successor to the last year’s Huawei Y9 Prime (2019). The two first Huawei smartphones with a pop-up selfie camera, Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) and Huawei P Smart Z share quite a lot of similarities. While the Y9 Prime (2019) has an extra camera on the rear, it has pretty much identical specifications to the P Smart Z.
Huawei Y9 Prime (2019): Price & Availability
The company hasn’t revealed the exact date when the phone will go on sale and that is the same for its price. However, the handset is expected to be priced at more than the Huawei P Smart Z’s price which is €279 (around Rs. 22,000) as you will have an extra camera and more store on the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019).
Huawei Y9 Prime (2019): Specs & Features

The handset sports a 6.59-inch FHD+ Ultra Full-View panel with a 1,080 x 2,340p resolution. It is powered by a Kirin 710 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage which is user expandable via a microSD slot up to 512GB. The phone is also offered in another option with 4GB of RAM / 128GB of storage while the Huawei P Smart Z only comes in a single variant with 4GB of RAM + 64GB of storage.

On the imaging front, there is a 16MP pop-up front-facing camera just like the Huawei P Smart Z. At the back, it comes with triple cameras, including a 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a third 2MP depth unit with f/2.4 lens. Under the hood, there is a 4,000 mAh battery to keep the phone running. For biometric authentication, the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) features a rear-mounted fingerprint reader and Face Unlock feature.
