The upcoming Huawei P Smart Z will be the first smartphone from Huawei to feature a pop-up camera. However, it will not be the only phone that Huawei wants to adopt the design. According to a fresh leak, another phone from the brand will also feature a pop-up camera, and it’s called Huawei Y9 Prime. The handset is also leaked to sport a triple rear camera setup. This new leak includes hands-on photos of the device and a live poster taken at an offline retail store.
Up front, the Huawei P Smart Z and Y9 Prime are designed similarly. It will be hard to differentiate if only judge from the front of the two devices alone.
As per the leak source of the aforementioned hands-on images, the upcoming Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 will also have an almost identical set of specs to the Huawei P Smart Z. The pictures further reveal a two-tone finish on its rear panel that is similar to the P Smart Z again.
In terms of hardware specs, the handset is said to sport a 6.59-inch FHD+ panel with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.006 percent. Powering the phone is the Huawei’s Kirin 710F clubbed with 4GB RAM / 128GB of internal storage. On the front, there is a 16MP pop-up selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture. At its back, the triple camera setup comprises of a 16MP main camera with f /1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide angle camera with f/2.4 aperture, and a third 2MP depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The rear cameras are placed vertically with the third camera is placed in a different module while the other two shares the same house.
For battery and security, it is expected to be powered by a large 4,000 mAh battery with a USB-C port and features a fingerprint reader mounted on the rear for unlocking the phone. In terms of price, its price tag is said to be set at below $ 300 (around Rs. 20,700), and that is lower than that of the Huawei P Smart Z ($313, which is around Rs. 21,600). However, with these two phones sharing quite a lot of similarities, we doubt that Huawei will launch these two phones in the same market.
The official availability and launch date of the phone are still unknown but it should be up quite soon as Huawei already distributes posters to the stores. With this specs and price range, we believe Huawei will launch this phone as a competitor against the Vivo V15 Pro and Oppo F11 / Oppo F11 Pro.
