Huawei is all set to launch its first phone with a pop-up selfie camera to the Indian market sometime this month. According to a reliable source, the handset will come with a price tag of under Rs. 20,000 and will aim at the millennial. Some of its Chinese rivals like Vivo, Oppo, and Realme have already announced such phones, so now it is time for Huawei to launch a direct competitor.
This rumored smartphone should be either the Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) or the Huawei P Smart Z, both of which sport a pop-up selfie camera and are available in other markets at a price tag of around the Rs. 20,000 range.
If Huawei releases a phone in that price range, it should directly compete against the Realme X, which was released in India just a few days ago and is among very few handsets in the sub-Rs. 20,000 price range featuring the pop-up camera design.
Huawei Y9 Prime (2019) & Huawei P Smart Z: Specifications
These two phones share quite a few similarities. Both of them sport a 6.59-inch FHD+ IPS LCD panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Powering them is the Kirin 710F SoC under the hood. However, while the Y9 Prime (2019) is only available in 4GB RAM / 64GB storage variant, the P Smart Z comes in one more option with 128GB of storage. Software-wise, both of them ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box with Huawei’s EMUI 9 on top. In terms of security, they feature a fingerprint scanner mounted on their rears.
Moving to the camera department, the Y9 Prime (2019) is equipped with a dual camera setup, whereas the P Smart Z sports triple cameras at its back. The former’s camera setup includes a 16MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor, while the latter has an additional 8MP ultra-wide camera. Finally, they are both fueled by a 4,000mAh battery.
